Mahua Roychoudhury
Mahua Roy Choudhury ( bn, মহুয়া রায় চৌধুরী; 24 September 1958 – 22 July 1985) was an Indian actress who is recognized for her work in Bengali cinema. She is considered to be one of the most successful actresses of Bengali Cinema. She received several awards including a Filmfare Award. She was posthumously conferred with the Best Actress Award for her role in '' Aadmi Aur Aurat'' (1984) at the 5th Damascus International Film Festival in 1987. Personal life Roychoudhury was born on 24 September 1958. Her original name was Shipra Roy Choudhury. Director Tarun Majumdar named her ‘Mahua’. ''Dadar Kirti'' ( bn, দাদার কীর্তি; ) is a 1980 Bengali romantic drama film directed by Tarun Majumdar. The film was based on an unpublished novel of the same name by Saradindu Bandopadhyay. Kaushik Banerjee ( bn, কৌশিক ব্যানার্জী) is an Indian actor who is known for his work in Bengali cinema. He has appeared in more than a 100 films throughout his career of four decades. Born to the ace actor Haradhan Bannerjee, he made his acting debut opposite Mahua Roychoudhury in Dinen Gupta's Bengali romantic film ''Priyatama'' (1980). He claimed to fame for his lascivious role as Devendra in Ajoy Kar's ''Bishabriksha'' (1984) which is based on the novel of the same name by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee. ''Kabita'' is a 1977 Indian Bengali-language film directed by Bharat Shumsher, starring Mala Sinha in the lead role. The film is a remake of the Tamil classic film ''Aval Oru Thodar Kathai'' (1974) where Kamal Haasan had a supporting role as a neighbor. He played the same role in the Bengali remake, thus his only foray into Bengali film industry. He also acted in the Telugu remake ''Anthuleni Katha'' (1976) with Jaya Prada, playing a different role as her boss and suitor. Tapan Sinha (2 October 1924 – 15 January 2009) was one of the most prominent Indian film directors of his time forming a legendary quartet with Satyajit Ray, Ritwik Ghatak and Mrinal Sen.
