Mahout ( ar, محوت, Muḥūt) is a wilayat (province) in the Al Wusta Governorate, Oman. Governorates Of Oman
Oman is divided into eleven governorates (''muhafazah''), and has been since 28 October 2011. Each of the 11 governorates are divided into ''wilayat'' (provinces). Regions and governorates before 2011 Before 28 October 2011, Oman was divided into five regions (''mintaqah'') and four governorates (''muhafazah''). The governorates were Muscat, Dhofar, Buraimi and Musandam. Buraimi was created in October 2006 from parts of Ad Dhahirah Region. The regions are further subdivided into 61 wilayat. Wilayah
A wilayah ( ar, وَلاية, wālāya or ''wilāya'', plural ; Urdu and fa, ولایت, ''velâyat''; tr, vilayet) is an administrative division, usually translated as "state", "province" or occasionally as "governorate". The word comes from the Arabic root "''w-l-y''", "to govern": a '' wāli''—"governor"—governs a ''wālāya'' (or ''wilāya''), "that which is governed". Haima, Oman
Haima ( ar, هيماء , Haymā’), is a town in the central Oman. It is the capital of the central region of Oman called Al Wusta Governorate. Permanent settlement began after a team of oil explorers sunk a water well there. This well, along with another dug in al-Ajaiz, became the first permanent water sources in Jiddat il-Harasiis. The well in Haima was used less than that in al-Ajaiz on account of the poor grazing lands surrounding it. In 1982 a school for boys and later one for girls was opened in Haima. Families from the Harasiis tribe have increasingly settled in this location while schools are in session. Duqm
Duqm ( ar, ٱلدُّقْم, Ad-Duqm) is a port town on the Arabian Sea in central-eastern Oman. As of 2010, the population was 11,200. History Duqm was a small fishing settlement of the Janubah tribe on the coast of southern Oman, when a party of soldiers of the Muscat and Oman Field Force and geologists of Petroleum Development Oman landed in February 1954 to begin the modern oil exploration of central Oman. Today it is an industrial oil town. Adam, Oman
Adam ( ar, أدم, not the same as Adam - the prophet آدم) is a town in the region Ad Dakhiliyah, in northeastern Oman. History The history of the Wilayat of Adam dates back to pre-Islamic times. Adam has several meanings in Arabic but most likely means the fertile land. The most notable places are Harrat Al Ain, Harrat al Bousaid, Harrat Al Hawashim, and Harrat Bani Shiban, where several archeological sites have been found, and Harr Al Jamii, which is more recent. The town is from Muscat on the Salalah road, at the southernmost end of Dakhiliya's border with Sharqiya region. It is the last green oasis before the desert. Here you can see ancient forts, citadels and towers, mosques and deserted traditional souqs. Al-Mudhaibi ( ar, المضيبي) is the largest willaya in Ash Sharqiyah region of Oman. It has two niabas: Sinaw and Samad Ash Shan. Suq Sinaw is one of the most popular suqs in Oman.
