Division No. 1, Subdivision M is an unorganized subdivision on the Avalon Peninsula in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada in Division 1. It contains the unincorporated communities of Emerald Vale, Goulds Road, Juniper Stump, Mahers and Turks Water. At several times in the past, census enumerating officers have considered Emerald Vale, Turks Water and Juniper Stump - along with other names such as Riverside Mills - to be part of the loosely defined Makinsons/Hodgewater settlement. The Newfoundland Time Zone (NT) is a geographic region that keeps time by subtracting 3.5 hours from Coordinated Universal Time ( UTC) during standard time, resulting in UTC−03:30; or subtracting 2.5 hours during daylight saving time. The clock time in this zone is based on the mean solar time of the meridian 52 degrees and 30 arcminutes west of the Greenwich Observatory. Whitbourne, Newfoundland And Labrador
Whitbourne is a town on the Avalon Peninsula in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada in Division 1. History Whitbourne, Newfoundland's first inland town, is named after Sir Richard Whitbourne, one of the most colourful early settlers of Newfoundland and Labrador who wrote a book about Newfoundland that was published in 1620. Sir Richard was appointed by the High Court of the Admiralty to set up the first English law court in the New World in 1615 in Trinity. He was kidnapped and held by the notorious Pirate Peter Easton in Harbour Grace. He also described a mermaid that he saw in St. John's harbour. Cupids
Cupids is a town of 699 people (per the 2021 Census) on Conception Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It has also been known as Coopers, Copers Cove, Cupers Cove, and Cuperts. It is the oldest continuously settled official British colony in Canada. Cupids is believed to be the site of the first child born of European parents in the country. The town was established by Englishman John Guy in 1610. In November 2009, the community was visited by The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall. In August 2010, the community was visited by many people from around the world to celebrate the Cupids 400th anniversary, including Canadian Governor General Michaëlle Jean. South River is an incorporated municipality in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador, located at the south-southeast side of Bay de Grave, in Conception Bay. The Avalon Peninsula (french: Péninsule d'Avalon) is a large peninsula that makes up the southeast portion of the island of Newfoundland. It is in size.
