Mahayag, Zamboanga Del Sur
Mahayag, officially the Municipality of Mahayag ( ceb, Lungsod sa Mahayag; Subanon language, Subanen: ''Benwa Mahayag''; Chavacano: ''Municipalidad de Mahayag''; tl, Bayan ng Mahayag), is a 3rd class municipality of the Philippines, municipality in the Philippine Province, province of Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 48,258 people. History The town's name is derived from the Cebuano term "''mahayag''" (''ma'' = to become + ''hayag'' = bright) which means to become bright or sunny. When the Visayan migrants first trickled into the area after World War II, the place was heavily forested, which, to some looks dark and forbidding. Local historical sources had it that when a large "''Dao''" tree which stands in the townsite was felt, the place becomes bright, hence the expression "''mahayag''". Poverty is measured in different ways by different bodies, both governmental and nongovernmental. Molave, Zamboanga Del Sur
Molave, officially known as the Municipality of Molave ( ceb, Lungsod sa Molave; Subanen: ''Benwa Molave''; Chavacano: ''Municipalidad de Molave''; tl, Bayan ng Molave), is a 1st class municipality in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines. In the 2020 census, it had 53,140 people. It is in the eastern part of the province of Zamboanga del Sur, and has an area of . The name "Molave" refers to the tree (and its hardwood) that was common in the area. Its economy is focused on agricultural production, and of fertile land is irrigated and planted with rice. Corn, coconut, cassava, banana, camote and various vegetables are also grown. These are marketed to neighboring towns and cities, and reach Cebu. Chavacano
Chavacano or Chabacano is a group of Spanish-based creole language varieties spoken in the Philippines. The variety spoken in Zamboanga City, located in the southern Philippine island group of Mindanao, has the highest concentration of speakers. Other currently existing varieties are found in Cavite City and Ternate, located in the Cavite province on the island of Luzon. Chavacano is the only Spanish-based creole in Asia. The different varieties of Chavacano differ in certain aspects like vocabulary but they are generally mutually intelligible by speakers of these varieties, especially between neighboring varieties. While a majority of the lexicon of the different Chavacano varieties derive from Spanish, their grammatical structures are generally similar to other Philippine languages. Subanon Language
The Subanen languages (also Subanon and Subanun) are a group of closely related Austronesian languages belonging to the Greater Central Philippine subgroup. Often described as a single language, they are considered by linguists as a dialect cluster more than a monolithic language. Subanen languages are spoken in various areas of Zamboanga Peninsula, namely the provinces of Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga del Sur, and in Misamis Occidental of Northern Mindanao. There is also a sizeable Subanen community in Misamis Oriental.
