James Poston, CBE (19 June 1945 – 13 October 2007) was a British diplomat who was Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands from 2002 to 2005. Poston succeeded acting Governor Cynthia Astwood on 16 December 2002. Poston was born in 1945 in St Albans, a city in southern Hertfordshire, England. He was the son of an Anglican priest and a social worker. He was educated at the Perse School in Cambridge before going on to attend Exeter University, where he studied French and history. Richard Tauwhare (; born 1 November 1959) was the tenth Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands, Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands, serving from 11 July 2005 to 16 July 2008. He succeeded Governor Jim Poston. Originally from Woking, United Kingdom, Mr Tauwhare has held several government posts around the world. Educationally, he attended Abingdon School and obtained an MA in History from Cambridge University. He can speak the Swahili language, Swahili language. Mr Tauwhare is married and has three children. Gordon Geoffrey Wetherell, CMG (born 11 November 1948) is a British diplomat who was the former Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands. He was appointed on 5 August 2008, replacing Richard Tauwhare in the position. The Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands is the representative of the British monarch in the United Kingdom's British Overseas Territory of Turks and Caicos Islands. The Governor is appointed by the monarch on the advice of the British government. The role of the Governor is to act as the vice-regal representative of the head of state, His Majesty King Charles III. The Governor appoints the Premier and 5 members of the House of Assembly. The official residence of the Governor is the Government House of Turks and Caicos Islands, located in Waterloo on the island of Grand Turk.
