Magnus (band)
Magnus was a Belgian joint dance music project comprising Tom Barman (from the rock band dEUS) and CJ Bolland. Magnus' debut album, ''The Body Gave You Everything'', was released on 29 March 2004. Four of its tracks were released as singles: "Summer's Here", "Jumpneedle", "French Movies" and "Hunter/Collector". "Summer's Here" (which uses a sample of Donald Byrd's song "Christo Redentor") and "Rhythm Is Deified" also appeared on the soundtrack of Barman's 2003 film '' Any Way the Wind Blows''. In the years following their debut album, Tom Barman and CJ Bolland performed together as DJs on several festivals. After a long hiatus, the band released a second album in 2014 titled ''Where Neon Goes to Die''. It was preceded by the single "Singing Man", with vocals by Tom Smith, leader of Editors. Tom Barman
Thomas Andrew Barman (born 1 January 1972), is a Belgian musician and film director. Barman studied at the film school of St.-Lucas in Brussels, but did not finish his studies because he wished to pursue a career in music. In 1989, he began by forming the rock band, dEUS, in Antwerp. Although he had chosen music over his interest in film, his experience aided him in directing his own music videos for dEUS, and he made a short film in 1996 titled ''Turnpike''. He also directed videos for other Belgian musicians including Axelle Red and Hooverphonic among others. He is of Norwegian descent from his father's side. In the summer of 2002 shooting started in Antwerp for his first feature film '' Any Way the Wind Blows'' which was released in Belgian cinemas in the summer of 2003. Mark William Lanegan (November 25, 1964 – February 22, 2022) was an American singer, songwriter, and poet. First becoming prominent as the lead singer for the early grunge band Screaming Trees, he was also known as a member of Queens of the Stone Age and The Gutter Twins. He released 12 solo studio albums, as well as three collaboration albums with Isobel Campbell and two with Duke Garwood. He was known for his baritone voice, which was described as being "as scratchy as a three-day beard yet as supple and pliable as moccasin leather" and has been compared to Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, and Nick Cave. Blaya
Blaya, stage name of Karla Rodrigues (born May 27, 1987), is a Brazilian-born Portuguese singer and dancer. Career Blaya started singing in 2001, but her professional career only began in 2008, after joining Buraka Som Sistema as a dancer, eventually becoming one of the group's vocalists. The partnership with the band lasted until 2016, after the group announced its hiatus for undetermined time. Before that, in 2013, Blaya released a free solo EP, the self-named ''Blaya''. Tim Wessel Vanhamel (born 11 December 1977 in Zonhoven, Belgium) is a Belgium, Belgian Rock music, rock musician who has been a member of and performed with a number of bands including Evil Superstars, Deus (band), Deus and Eagles of Death Metal. Pauline de Lassus Saint-Geniès (born 9 April 1983 in Paris), better known by her stage name Mina Tindle, is a French folk and new wave singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. David Eugene Edwards
David Eugene Edwards (born February 24, 1968 in Englewood, Colorado) is an American musician. He is the lead singer of Wovenhand, and also the main songwriter and the principal musician on the recordings of the band. He is the former lead singer of 16 Horsepower. Their music contains elements of old-time, folk, punk, medieval, gypsy, Native American music, and most recently late 1980s and early 1990s Gothic Rock. Lyrically, it deals with pain, conflict, faith, and redemption, with Edwards' personal Christian beliefs influencing much of the lyrical imagery. Editors are an English rock band, formed in 2002 in Birmingham. Previously known as Pilot, The Pride and Snowfield, the band currently consists of Tom Smith (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Russell Leetch (bass guitar, synthesiser, backing vocals), Ed Lay (drums, percussion, backing vocals), Justin Lockey (lead guitar), Elliott Williams (keys, synthesizers, guitars, and backing vocals), and Benjamin John Power (composer and producer). Thomas Michael Henry Smith (born 29 April 1981) is an English musician, best known as the lead singer, songwriter, keyboardist and rhythm guitarist of the indie rock band Editors. Early life Thomas Michael Henry Smith was born in Northampton on 29 April 1981, the son of high school science teachers Sylvia and John Smith. He grew up in Stroud, Gloucestershire, where he attended Woodchester Endowed Primary School and learned to play the guitar under the guidance of the school's headmaster.
