Magnificent Star
Magnificent Star (foaled 5 March 1988) was an American-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare best known for her win in the 1991 Yorkshire Oaks. She was unraced as a two-year-old and was beaten on her first two starts of 1991 before winning the Listed Fillies' Trial Stakes. She then finished fifth in The Oaks and second in the Glorious Stakes before recording an upset victory over a strong field in the Yorkshire Oaks. She never won again and was retired from racing at the end of 1992. She had modest success as a dam of winners. Background Magnificent Star was a bay mare bred in Kentucky by her owner, Mahmoud Fustok's Buckram Oak Farm. ''Silver Hawk'' () is a 2004 Hong Kong-Chinese superhero film directed by Jingle Ma and starring Michelle Yeoh, Richie Jen, Luke Goss, Brandon Chang, Adrian Cooper Lastra and Michael White. Yeoh plays the title character, a masked comic book style heroine who rides a motorcycle, saves kidnapped pandas and uses her martial arts moves on the bad guys. Hawkster (February 19, 1986 – June 1, 2003) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse who holds the world record of 2:22 4/5 for one and one half miles on Turf set under jockey Russell Baze on October 14, 1989 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California while winning the Oak Tree Invitational Stakes. Bred in Kentucky by Robert C. Sims, Hawkster was sired by Silver Hawk and out of the mare, Strait Lane. He was raced by Mr. and Mrs. J. Shelton Meredith. Sir Michael Ronald Stoute (born 22 October 1945) is a Barbadian British Thoroughbred horse trainer in flat racing. Windsor Racecourse, also known as Royal Windsor Racecourse, is a thoroughbred horse racing venue located in Windsor, Berkshire, England. It is one of only two figure-of-eight courses in the United Kingdom, the other being at Fontwell Park. Description Windsor Racecourse is located on the banks of the River Thames and occupies a large island between the main channel of the River and the Clewer Mill Stream backwater. Although the course is shaped like a figure-of-eight, the full circuit is never used, so in races of 1m, 1m 2f and 1m 3f 99y (the longest distance at Windsor) the runners turn only right-handed. Irish 1000 Guineas
The Irish 1,000 Guineas is a Group 1 flat horse race in Ireland open to three-year-old thoroughbred fillies. It is run at the Curragh over a distance of 1 mile (1,609 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in May. History The event was established in 1922, a year after the launch of the Irish 2,000 Guineas. The inaugural running was won by Lady Violette. It is Ireland's equivalent of the 1000 Guineas, and in recent years it has taken place three weeks after that race. Newbury Racecourse is a racecourse and events venue in the civil parish of Greenham, adjoining the town of Newbury in Berkshire, England. It has courses for flat races and over jumps. Maiden horse races are held over a variety of distances and under conditions with eligibility based on the sex or age of the horse. Races may be handicaps, set weights, or weight for age.
