Magic Johnson Park is a recreation area operated by Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation in the Willowbrook neighborhood. It is named after Los Angeles Lakers star and activist Earvin "Magic" Johnson. A $80 million renovation of the park was completed in 2020, adding improvements like a community events center, playgrounds for kids and 300 new trees. "There are new jogging paths, drought-tolerant native-plant gardens studded with sagebrush and sycamores, scenic overlooks” and a community center designed by Paul Murdoch Architects with interior murals by Carla Jay Harris. Willowbrook, alternatively named Willow Brook, is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Los Angeles County, California. The population was 24,295 at the 2020 census, down from 35,983 at the 2010 census. Willowbrook is the home to the newly renovated Martin Luther King Jr. Outpatient Center. Earvin "Magic" Johnson Jr. (born August 14, 1959) is an American former professional basketball player. Compton Creek
Compton Creek is a major tributary of the Los Angeles River in and surrounding Compton in Los Angeles County, California. The stream drains a watershed of . and is the last major tributary to enter the Los Angeles River before it reaches the Pacific Ocean. The stream begins just east of South Main Street between 107th and 108th Streets in Los Angeles. Compton Creek passes through Willowbrook and runs in total.
