Magherafelt Sky Blues Football Club are an amateur football club from Magherafelt, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The club, founded in 1970, plays its home matches at Spires Park. Club colours are sky blue and navy. The current manager is Brian Taylor and Sean Monaghan. The club played in the Ballymena & Provincial Intermediate League until announcing their resignation from the league on the eve of the 2017-18 season. They now compete in the Coleraine & District Football League. History The club was established by local footballers in 1970 who wanted a club that could appeal to both the Catholic and Protestant populations of the town. Their Sky Blues name and strip colour were taken from the Football League club Coventry City. They settled at their current home Spires Park, a playing field which had been locally known as "Stoney Park", in 2007. The Ballymena and Provincial Football League is a regional football league in Northern Ireland. The league has a Premier Division with intermediate status and three junior divisions: Junior Divisions 1, 2 and 3. History The league was formed as the Ballymena and District Junior League in 1948, with twelve founding members, including Moyola Park F.C., the only original member club that still retains membership through its reserve team. In 1983, the name was changed to the Ballymena and District Premier League, and in 1990, intermediate status was granted to the top division and the league was renamed as the Ballymena and Provincial Intermediate League. The 2010–11 Irish Cup (known as the JJB Sports Irish Cup for sponsorship reasons) was the 131st edition of the Irish Cup, Northern Ireland's premier football knock-out cup competition. The competition began on 18 September 2010 with the First Round and ended on 7 May 2011 with the Final. Linfield were the champions, winning their fifth Irish Cup in the last six seasons, by defeating Crusaders 2–1 in the final, who were appearing in their second final in the last three seasons. The 2009–10 Irish Cup was the 130th edition of Northern Ireland's premier football knock-out cup competition. The competition began on 19 September 2009 with the first Round and ended on 8 May 2010 with the final. Crusaders were the defending champions, winning their third Irish Cup the previous season after a 1–0 win over Cliftonville in the 2009 final.
