The Missouri House of Representatives is the lower chamber of the Missouri General Assembly. It has 163 members, representing districts with an average size of 37,000 residents. House members are elected for two-year terms during general elections held in even-numbered years. Missouri's house is the fourth largest in the United States even as the state ranks 18th in population. The only states with a larger lower house in the United States are New Hampshire (400), Pennsylvania (203) and Georgia (180). Republicans have controlled the State House since 2003. The next election will be held in 2022. Operations The Missouri House of Representatives meets annually beginning on the Wednesday after the first Monday in January. A part-time legislature, it concludes session business by May 30. Jon Carpenter
Jon Carpenter is an American politician representing Missouri's 15th district in Kansas City's Northland and was elected in 2012 to the Missouri House of Representatives. Carpenter is the owner of his own marketing and advertising firm. He is also a member of the Gladstone Area Chamber of Commerce and the Northland Democratic Club. In 2020, he ran for the Clay County Commission Western and won by a narrow margin. Early life Carpenter attended St. Charles grade school, and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Kansas City, Missouri. Truman State University (TSU or Truman) is a public university in Kirksville, Missouri. It had 4,225 enrolled students in the fall of 2021 pursuing degrees in 52 undergraduate and 11 graduate programs. The university is named for U.S. President Harry Truman, who was a Missouri native.
