Magdalena Hinterdobler
Magdalena Hinterdobler (born 1986) is a German operatic soprano, based at the Oper Frankfurt, where she has performed leading roles including Eva in Wagner's ''Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg'', Elisabetta in Verdi's ''Don Carlo'' and Grete in Zemlinsky's ''Der Traumgörge''. She appeared as Anna in the world premiere of Gerd Kühr's ''Paradiese'' at the Leipzig Opera in 2021, and as Chrysothemis in ''Elektra (opera), Elektra'' by Richard Strauss at the Tyrolean State Theatre in 2023. Early life and career Hinterdobler was born in Straubing, Bavaria, in 1986. She attended a Gymnasium (Germany), gymnasium focused on music and was a member of its chamber choir, conducted by Gerold Huber, the father of the pianist Gerold Huber, a notable ''lied'' accompanist with whom she later performed. Straubing
Straubing () is an independent city in Lower Bavaria, southern Germany. It is seat of the district of Straubing-Bogen. Annually in August the Gäubodenvolksfest, the second largest fair in Bavaria, is held. The city is located on the Danube forming the centre of the Gäuboden. The German national competition Bundeswettbewerb Gesang Berlin was inaugurated in 1966 as a competition for solo singing. Beginning in 1979, it has been held annually, for the categories Musical theatre, Musical and Chanson in uneven years, for Opera, Operetta and concert singing in even years. The patron of the competition is the mayor of Berlin, where the competition is organized and held by the association ''Bundeswettbewerb Gesang Berlin''. The competition supports young singers for stages in German-speaking countries who have to display varied repertory. They have to be of German nationality and finished school in Germany. The final rounds are held in public in Berlin, where also concerts of the winners are presented in the city's music theatres. ''The Rose of Stamboul'' (original German: ''Die Rose von Stambul'') is a 1916 operetta in three acts by Austrian composer Leo Fall with a libretto by Julius Brammer and Alfred Grünwald. The work premiered on 2 December 1916 at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna. The story centers around Achmed Bey, a young Turkish man who wishes to reform Turkish society. Not wanting to embarrass his politician father, Bey publishes his reform plans in French under the pseudonym "André Léry". The book becomes a bestseller among Turkish women. Later, a marriage is arranged between Achmed Bey and Kondja Gül. On their wedding night, however, Gül confesses to her husband that she can never love him, as she has fallen in love with the author André Léry. Michael Hofstetter (born 6 September 1961) is a German conductor and academic. He was chief conductor of the festival Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele from 2005 to 2012, and has been Generalmusikdirektor of Gießen since. He has worked internationally at notable opera houses and festivals. He is regarded as an expert of historically informed performance, who has rediscovered and recorded rarely performed operas. ' ("The Pretend Garden-Girl"), K. 196, is an Italian-language opera by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Mozart wrote it in Munich in January 1775 when he was 18 years old and it received its first performance on 13 January at the in Munich. There is debate over the authorship of the libretto, written for Anfossi's opera the year before. It is often ascribed to Calzabigi, but some musicologists now attribute it to Giuseppe Petrosellini, though again it is questioned whether it is in the latter's style. In 1780 Mozart converted the opera into a German Singspiel called ''Die Gärtnerin aus Liebe'' (also ''Die verstellte Gärtnerin''), which involved rewriting some of the music. ''Wiener Blut'' ('' Viennese Blood'' or ''Viennese Spirit'') is an operetta named after the " Wiener Blut" waltz, supposedly with music by the composer Johann Strauss the Younger, who did not live to witness the première. Such was the popularity of the original "Wiener Blut" Op. 354 waltz until the time of the composer's death that his work would be chosen as the name of the operetta with libretto by Victor Léon and Leo Stein set around the Vienna Congress of 1814 to 1815. Strauss did not specifically compose any music for this operetta, although many of his earlier compositions were incorporated for the work. He took no active part in the musical arrangement at its conception nor any production work leading up to its première. The Prinzregententheater, or, as it was called in its first decades, the Prinz-Regenten-Theater, in English the Prince Regent Theatre, is a concert hall and opera house on Prinzregentenplatz in the Bavarian capital of Munich, Germany. Orchestra Of The Age Of Enlightenment
The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (OAE) is a British period instrument orchestra. The OAE is a resident orchestra of the Southbank Centre, London, associate orchestra at Glyndebourne Festival Opera Artistic Associate at Kings Place, and has its headquarters at Acland Burghley School. The leadership is rotated between four musicians: Matthew Truscott, Kati Debretzeni, Huw Daniel and Margaret Faultless. A group of period instrumentalist players formed the OAE as a self-governing ensemble in 1986, and took its name from the historical period in the late 18th century where the core of its repertoire is based.
