Magarevo
Magarevo ( mk, Магарево; rup, Magaruva or ; sq, Magarovë) is a village in the municipality of Bitola, North Macedonia. The village is 8.29 kilometers away from Bitola, which is the second largest city in the country. History Magarevo was originally a small village inhabited by a few Orthodox Slavonic families. Aromanians settled in Magarevo in addition to Orthodox Albanian refugees who arrived mainly from Vithkuq, fleeing the 18th century socio-political and economic crises in what is now southern Albania. The Albanian population of Magarevo were Tosks, a subgroup of southern Albanians. Dimitrios Tsapanos
Dimitrios Tsapanos ( el, Δημήτριος Τσάπανος) was a Greek chieftain of the Greek Struggle for Macedonia. Biography Tsapanos was born in 1882 or 1883 in Magarevo of the historic region of Pelagonia, then Ottoman Empire (now North Macedonia). Nikolaos Tsapanos, chieftain of the 1896–1897 Greek Macedonian rebellion, was his relative. Dimitrios Tsapanos became a kodjabashi of his hometown, Magarevo and a member of the local ''National Commission''. In 1903 he formed an armed group led by him and took part in the Macedonian Struggle. He acted with his body throughout the Macedonian Struggle against the Bulgarian komitadji armed groups and the Ottoman military extracts who were a threat for the Macedonian Greeks of the region. Michail Asterios Sapkas ( el, Μιχαήλ Αστέριος Σάπκας) was a Greeks, Greek revolutionary of the Macedonian Struggle and politician. Biography Sapkas was born in 1873 in Magarevo, then Ottoman Empire (now North Macedonia). He studied medicine in the University of Athens. Some years before the Macedonian Struggle occurred, he with his family moved to Larissa, where he joined the "''New Filiki Eteria''" (''Νέα Φιλική Εταιρεία'') which was established by Anastasios Pichion. He established the ''Macedonian Society of Larissa'', which during the Macedonian Struggle was recruiting volunteers from the nearby areas. 2021 North Macedonia Census
The 2021 North Macedonia census, officially known as the Census of Population, Households and Dwellings, 2021, was the third census held in North Macedonia since independence, and the first since 2002. The census recorded a resident population of 1,836,713, a decrease of 9.2 percent, or 185,834, over the preceding 19 years. The census was taken during the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected its administration. Vasil Kanchov
Vasil Kanchov ( bg, Васил Кънчов, Vasil Kanchov) (26 July 1862 – 6 February 1902) was a Bulgarian geographer, ethnographer and politician. Biography Vasil Kanchov was born in Vratsa. Upon graduating from High school in Lom, Bulgaria, he entered the University of Harkov, then in Russia. During the Serbo-Bulgarian War 1885 he suspended his education and took part in the war. Later, he went on to pursue studies at universities in Munich and Stuttgart, but in 1888 he interrupted his education again due to an illness. Macedonian Struggle
The Macedonian Struggle ( bg, Македонска борба; el, Μακεδονικός Αγώνας; mk, Борба за Македонија; sr, Борба за Македонију; tr, Makedonya Mücadelesi) was a series of social, political, cultural and military conflicts that were mainly fought between Greek and Bulgarian subjects who lived in Ottoman Macedonia between 1893 and 1912. Aridaía (; mk, С'ботско, ''S'botsko''; bg, Съботско) is a town and a former municipality in the Pella regional unit, Greece. Mariovo ( mk, Мариово) is a historic region in the southern part of North Macedonia, with an area of 1,390 square km and an elevation 1,050 m, situated among mountains.
