Madurai Tamil (மதுரை தமிழ்), known as Madurai Bashai, is the dialect of Tamil spoken in the region of Madurai and over a vast geographical area of South Tamil Nadu, the area once ruled by the Pandiya kings. It differs substantially from Nellai Tamil, a region which was also part of the Pandiya domain. Vadipatti is a panchayat town in the Madurai district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.and also known as "west gateway of Madurai. Etymology The name ''Vadipatti is'' derived from the root word ''vaayil'' or ''vaasal'', meaning 'the door' or 'entrance'. It was the one of the historical boundaries of and the entrance to Madurai, as well as the camping place of Pandyas, which is evident from the Kulasekara Pandian period. Rameswaram (; also transliterated as Ramesvaram, Rameshwaram) is a municipality in the Ramanathapuram district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Paramakudi
Paramakudi, also Paramagudi, is the largest town in the district of Ramanathapuram in Tamil Nadu, with a population of over 95,579 (2011 census). It has been the taluk headquarters since 1918, i.e. from the date of formation of Ramanathapuram District. Paramakudi consists of two separate settlements, Paramakudi and Emaneswaran from the first half of this century. These settlements were classified as separate towns in the census records from 1901 to 1961 and then merged together to form the present municipal town in 1964. The area of the town is 13.45 km2. Usilampatti () is a town and a second grade municipality in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is also a designated taluk and revenue division. Location Usilampatti town lies 37 km south west of Theni town and 32 km west of Madurai city on the National Highway 49 (India, old numbering), NH 49 road. The town has a population of 30601 as per the 2001 census. Physical feature is the Madurai–Bodinayakkanur meter gauge railway line, which runs parallel to the Madurai–Usilampatti road, bifurcating the developed area of the town. The lands which lies in between railway line and Peraiyur road and Battalakundu road, are mostly of wet lands which restrict the development of the town in the southern direction.
