Madonna Dei Campi
Our Lady of the Fields (Italian: ''Madonna dei Campi''; French: ''Notre Dame des Champs''; Spanish: ''La Virgen del Campo''; also known as Our Lady of Prayer) is a title of Mary mother of Jesus in Roman Catholic Marian veneration. The name is based on a sanctuary in the countryside of Stezzano, near Bergamo, where Marian apparitions have been recorded since the 13th century. Veneration of Mary under this name was taken to Canada by Jesuit Xavier Donald Macleod, who reports a Marian apparition in a village of New France in 1841. Mary is venerated under this name by the Glenmary Home Missioners, a Catholic society of priests and brothers that serve the rural United States. New France
New France (french: Nouvelle-France) was the area colonized by France in North America, beginning with the exploration of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence by Jacques Cartier in 1534 and ending with the cession of New France to Great Britain and Spain in 1763 under the Treaty of Paris. The vast territory of ''New France'' consisted of five colonies at its peak in 1712, each with its own administration: Canada, the most developed colony, was divided into the districts of Québec, Trois-Rivières, and Montréal; Hudson Bay; Acadie in the northeast; Plaisance on the island of Newfoundland; and Louisiane. It extended from Newfoundland to the Canadian Prairies and from Hudson Bay to the Gulf of Mexico, including all the Great Lakes of North America. In the 16th century, the lands were used primarily to draw from the wealth of natural resources such as furs through trade with the various indigenous peoples. In the seventeenth century, successful settlements began in Acadia and in Quebe ...

Marian Apparitions
A Marian apparition is a reported supernatural appearance by Mary, the mother of Jesus, or a series of related such appearances during a period of time. In the Catholic Church, in order for a reported appearance to be classified as a Marian apparition, the person or persons who claim to see Mary (the "seers") must claim that they see her visually located in their environment. If the person claims to hear Mary but not see her, this is known as an interior locution, not an apparition. Also excluded from the category of apparitions are dreams, visions experienced in the imagination, the claimed perception of Mary in ordinarily-explainable natural phenomena, and miracles associated with Marian artwork, such as weeping statues. Believers consider such apparitions to be real and objective interventions of divine power, rather than subjective experiences generated by the perceiving individuals, even in cases where the apparition is reportedly seen by only some, not all, of the people ...

Brothers Of Our Lady Of The Fields
The Brothers of Our Lady of the Fields ( ''Frères de Notre Dame des Champs'') were a small Canadian Roman Catholic congregation active between 1902 and 1930. History Joseph-Onésime Brousseau became curé at St-Damien de Buckland in 1882. It was a small, poor, rural parish. In 1892, he built a convent-hospital to shelter orphans and the elderly and founded the ''Congrégation des sœurs de Notre-Dame du Perpétuel Secours'' to staff it. In order to counter the exodus of French-Canadian settlers to the industrialized regions of the United States, projects were developed by the Colonization Society of the Diocese of Quebec. Brousseau saw this as a method to support the French-Canadian Catholic culture in Quebec, and joined the movement. Having grown up on a farm, he saw improved agricultural practices and the encouragement of small businesses as a means to improve the quality of life in his parish. With his father, he cultivated the land owned by the parish church and developed a ...

Notre-Dame-des-Champs, Paris
Notre-Dame-des-Champs is a Roman Catholic church located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. The church is named after the Blessed Virgin Mary under the title of Our Lady of the Fields. History Originally located on the site of the church was a Roman temple dedicated to the god Mercury. After the Christianization of France, the temple was dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and was named Notre-Dame-des-Vignes. Robert II made additions to the church and rededicated it to both the Virgin Mary and Saint Denis. The church was later made into a priory by the Benedictine monks of Marmoutier Abbey, renaming it Notre-Dame-des-Champs in honor of Our Lady of the Fields. In 1604 the Benedictines ceded the priory to Princess Catherine Gonzaga, Duchess of Orleans-Longueville who installed Carmelites from Spain. This was the Carmelite convent where both Louise de La Vallière and Françoise-Athénaïs de Rochechouart, Marquise de Montespan both retired from the French court and enter ...

Glenmary Home Missioners
Glenmary Home Missioners, also known as The Home Missioners of America Inc.; Latin: ''Societas Missionariorum Domesticorum Americæ''), is a Catholic society of priests and brothers founded in 1939 to serve the spiritual and material needs of people in rural parts of the United States. It is a society of apostolic life. History Glenmary Home Missioners was founded in 1939 by Rev. William Howard Bishop, a Catholic priest from the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Fr. Bishop was invited by The Most Reverend John Timothy McNicholas, O.P. from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati to found the community within Archdiocese. At that time, he noted that more than one-third of the counties of the United States, mostly in Appalachia and the South, had no resident priest. Mary Mother Of Jesus
Mary; arc, ܡܪܝܡ, translit=Mariam; ar, مريم, translit=Maryam; grc, Μαρία, translit=María; la, Maria; cop, Ⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁ, translit=Maria was a first-century Jewish woman of Nazareth, the wife of Joseph and the mother of Jesus. She is a central figure of Christianity, venerated under various titles such as virgin or queen, many of them mentioned in the Litany of Loreto. The Eastern and Oriental Orthodox, Church of the East, Catholic, Anglican, and Lutheran churches believe that Mary, as mother of Jesus, is the Mother of God. Other Protestant views on Mary vary, with some holding her to have considerably lesser status. The New Testament of the Bible provides the earliest documented references to Mary by name, mainly in the canonical Gospels. She is described as a young virgin who was chosen by God to conceive Jesus through the Holy Spirit. After giving birth to Jesus in Bethlehem, she raised him in the city of Nazareth in Galilee, and was in Jerusalem a ...
