Madison Bear
Madison Bear (born April 26, 1997) is an American curler from Portage, Wisconsin. As a junior curler, Bear was a two-time United States champion and a World runner-up. Career Bear first competed at the United States Junior Curling Championship in 2015, as skip of a team consisting of Jenna Burchesky at third, Allison Howell at second and Annmarie Dubberstein at lead. Despite being newcomers on the national stage, Team Bear made it to the finals where they lost to defending champion Cory Christensen. The following season, Bear joined Christensen's team as lead. The team also included Sarah Anderson and Taylor Anderson. With Team Christensen, Bear won her first World Curling Tour event, going undefeated at the 2015 St. Paul Cash Spiel. Portage, Wisconsin
Portage is a city in and the county seat of Columbia County, Wisconsin, Columbia County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 10,581 at the 2020 census making it the largest city in Columbia County. The 2017 World Junior Curling Championships (branded as the 2017 VoIP Defender World Junior Curling Championships for sponsorship reasons) was held from February 16 to 26 at the Gangneung Curling Centre in Gangneung, South Korea. Cora Farrell
Cora Farrell (born May 23, 1999) is an American curler from Fairbanks, Alaska. She was a silver medalist at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway. Career Farrell has competed in eight consecutive Junior National Championships. Her first was in 2013 at only 13 years old, playing third for Kaitlin Fowler. They finished the tournament with a 3–6 win–loss record, in a four-way tie for sixth place. Farrell's best results at Junior Nationals have been in 2017, 2019, and 2020, each time earning the silver medal. In 2016 Farrell represented the United States at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympics, playing third on the mixed team skipped by Luc Violette. Mary Fay
Mary Fay (born June 7, 1998) is a Canadian curler from Chester, Nova Scotia. Curling career At just 15 years old, Fay and her young rink of Jenn Smith, Karlee Burgess and Janique LeBlanc won the 2014 Nova Scotia Junior women's championship. They were the youngest team to win in 20 years., sending the four-some to the 2014 Canadian Junior Curling Championships to represent Nova Scotia. Despite their youth, the team finished with an 8-2 record, making the playoffs. The team would go on to lose to British Columbia, skipped by Kalia Van Osch in the semi-final, winning a bronze medal. The next year, the Fay rink won their second U21 Nova Scotia Provincials, earning the right to represent Nova Scotia at their second back-to-back Canadian Junior Curling Championship. Nina Roth
Nina Marie Roth ( Spatola; born July 21, 1988) is a retired American curler from McFarland, Wisconsin. She was the skip of the American women's team at the 2018 Winter Olympics and the third at the 2022 Winter Olympics. Career Roth began curling in 1998 and six years later played in her first United States Junior National Championship. She would compete in five more Junior Nationals, winning the title in 2006 and 2008. As a member of the Junior Championship team, she qualified for two World Junior Curling Championships. Skipping the teams both times, she finished tenth at the 2006 Jeonju, Korea Worlds and seventh at the 2008 Östersund, Sweden Worlds. Jamie Sinclair
Jamie Ann Sinclair (born February 21, 1992) is an American-Canadian curler from Osgoode, Ontario and is a three-time U.S. National Champion. Her United States Curling Association membership is through the Charlotte Curling Association in Charlotte, North Carolina where she has a number of personal connections. She grew up in Manotick, Ontario, a suburb of Ottawa. Curling career 2007–2013: Juniors Sinclair won a gold medal at the 2007 Canada Winter Games, playing lead for the Rachel Homan rink. This is a glossary of terms in curling. #s During a game, sweepers might call out numbers. These numbers indicate how far the sweepers think the rock in play will travel. This system is relatively new to the game and is often attributed to the Randy Ferbey rink since they were the first major team to use the system, but it is not known whose idea it originally was. 1 to 3 indicates a rock in the free guard zone, 4 to 6 the rings in front of the tee line, 7 being on the button, and 8 to 10 the rings behind the tee line. World Curling Tour
The World Curling Tour (WCT) is a group of curling bonspiels featuring the best male, female, and mixed doubles curlers in the world. History The World Curling Tour was founded by former World Champion Ed Lukowich, with later assistance from John Kawaja. The World Curling Tour commenced in 1992, with men's events only at first. It replaced the "Canadian Curling Tour" held the previous season. The first season consisted of 48 events (with only one outside Canada), and was sponsored by Seagram's distillery. Teams earned points in every event with the top 30 qualifying for the season ending " V.O. Cup", today known as the Players' Championship. Its first president and CEO was Lukowich. Taylor Anderson (curler)
Taylor Anderson (born February 25, 1995) is an American curler from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Along with her twin sister Sarah, she was United States National Champion in 2019 and World Junior silver medalist in 2016. Curling career Juniors Anderson was a member of Team USA at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics, playing lead on the team, which was skipped by Korey Dropkin. They finished in fifth place. In the mixed doubles event, Anderson was paired with Great Britain's Duncan Menzies. The pair were eliminated in the quarterfinals.
