Madison-Genesis
Madison Genesis was a British-based professional road cycling team, registered at UCI Continental level and competing in domestic and European competitions between 2013 and 2019. Founded in 2013, the team was announced in July 2012 as a platform for developing UK road cycling talent. Team manager Roger Hammond stated that the team's success would be judged on how many riders progress on to the next level of UCI Professional Continental or World Tour racing. Since, Alex Peters – one of Hammond's first signings – joined world tour Team Sky for 2016, while Scott Davies joined Dimension Data for 2018. Dean Downing
Dean "Deano" Downing (born 24 January 1975) is an English retired bicycle racer, specialising in road cycling who last rode for NFTO Pro Cycling. Downing was educated at Wales High School and Sheffield Hallam University, where he graduated in 1998 with a degree in Construction Management. He rode for the DFL-Cyclingnews-Litespeed team in 2006 and is the older brother of former British champion Russell Downing. In 2004, he represented Great Britain at the World Track Championships. For the 2007 season, Downing rode for the original Rapha Condor team and focussed on the British Premier Calendar. In 2008 the team became Rapha-Condor-Recycling.co.uk. After spending six years with the Rapha Condor squad Downing moved to the new Madison-Genesis team for 2013. Roger Hammond (cyclist)
Roger Hammond (born 30 January 1974) is a male English retired bicycle racer, specialising in cyclo-cross and road cycling. Education Hammond grew up in Chalfont St Peter in Buckinghamshire and attended Dr Challoner's Grammar School as a teenager. While still at school he won the 1992 world junior cyclo-cross championship in Leeds, but elected to concentrate on his university studies before pursuing a cycling career. Cycling career Hammond represented England in the road race event, at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He repeated this achievement four years later at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. He was the British road champion in 2003 and 2004. Founded in 2006, Genesis is a UK bike brand manufacturing road, urban, youth and mountain models. Genesis is distributed by Sportline UK which is owned by H Young Holdings. History The first Genesis bike was produced under the Ridgeback brand as the Day One model in 2001. Due to its popularity, Genesis became a label in its own right in 2006. Over ten years the range expanded beyond commuter bikes to include road, mountain, cyclo-cross, gravel, kids and fat bikes. Thomas Scully (born 14 January 1990) is a New Zealand professional road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He previously competed on the track; he won the silver medal in the Men's points race at the 2014 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Cali, Colombia, and the gold medal in the same event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom. Tour Series
The Tour Series is an annual series of cycling criterium races held in the United Kingdom since 2009. It is televised by ITV4 in the UK. The competition emphasises team effort with individual wins deemed less important. The races are held over 1 hour of racing plus 5 laps. The team standings for each round are calculated by adding together the positions of the top three riders of each team (5 riders start for each team) and the team with the lowest score wins, and get 10 points for the overall championship. Each team gets 1 point less than the one in front of them, so second gets 9, third gets 8, and so on. In addition, there is the sprint competition. There are three sprints every race, and the top five riders are awarded points based on place: 1st, 5; 2nd, 4; 3rd, 3; 4th, 2 and 5th, 1. Rás Tailteann (; "Tailteann Race"), often shortened to the Rás, is an annual international cycling stage race, held in Ireland. Traditionally held in May, the race returned after a hiatus in 2022 as 5 day event held in June. By naming the race Rás Tailteann the original organisers, members of the National Cycling Association (NCA), were associating the cycle race with the Tailteann Games, a Gaelic festival in early medieval Ireland. The event was founded by Joe Christle in 1953 and was organised under the rules of the National Cycling Association (NCA). At that time competitive cycling in Ireland was deeply divided between three cycling organisations, the NCA, Cumann Rothaiochta na hÉireann (CRÉ) and the Northern Ireland Cycling Federation (NICF).
