Madhyamgram
Madhyamgram is a city and a municipality of North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is close to Kolkata and also a part of the area covered by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA). History Madhyamgram was one of the twelve feudal provinces of Bengal. It was under Pratapaditya Roy, ruler of Jessore during the Mughal Empire. On 21 December 1757 Mir Jafar, the Nawab of Bengal, presented twenty-four parganas to the East India Company as dowry which also included Madhyamgram, under Anwarpur Pargana, adjacent to Barasat. The first railway line from Madhyamgram to Duttapukur was commissioned in 1882 and the station was called Chandipur. Madhyamgram was then named as Majher Gaon, probably because the area was situated between Badu (Chakradharpur Mouza) and Sajirhat (Guchuria Mouza). Rathin Ghosh
Rathin Ghosh is currently Food and Supplies Minister of West Bengal in third Mamata Banerjee Government. He is an Indian politician belonging to All India Trinamool Congress. He was elected as a member of West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Madhyamgram in 2011, 2016 and 2021. In 1998 he joined Trinamool congress and Trinamool Congress won the Madhyamgram Municipality election by defeating Left Front (Ruling party of state at that time) and then went on to become the first TMC Chairman of North 24 Parganas and under his leadership TMC got the first Municipal Board in North 24 Parganas. He was a congressman earlier, he went on to become the Chairman of the Madhyamgram Municipality in 1999 for the first time. Jessore Road
Jessore Road is a road connecting Shyambazar through Dum Dum, both neighbourhoods in Kolkata, India, to Jessore in Bangladesh. While the Dum Dum-Barasat sector is now part of NH 12, the Barasat-Petrapole sector is now part of NH 112. It continues in Bangladesh as N706 from Benapole to Jessore. The road acts as a major link between places in and around Kolkata, especially Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport and Barasat.
