Madhopur, Punjab
Madhopur is a town, located, near city of Pathankot in Pathankot district, Punjab, India, at its border with the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. It is also the location of the Madhopur headworks on the Ravi River, which feeds the Upper Bari Doab Canal irrigating 335,000 hectares of land in Punjab. Madhopur has an average elevation of 332 metres (1,089 feet), and lies on the highway NH 44 (formerly NH-1A) linking Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. About Madhopur lies on the Pathankot-Jammu national highway (NH 44, formerly NH-1A), a key road link between Jammu and Kashmir has with the rest of India. Gurdaspur District
Gurdaspur district is a district in the Majha region of the state of Punjab, India. Gurdaspur is the district headquarters. It internationally borders Narowal District of Pakistani Punjab, and the districts of Amritsar, Pathankot, Kapurthala and Hoshiarpur. Two main rivers Beas and Ravi passes through the district. The Mughal emperor Akbar is said to have been enthroned in a garden near Kalanaur, a historically important town in the district. The district is at the foothills of the Himalayas. Ravi River
The Ravi River () is a transboundary river crossing northwestern India and eastern Pakistan. It is one of five rivers associated with the Punjab region. Under the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960, the waters of the Ravi and two other rivers were allocated to India. Subsequently, the Indus Basin Project was developed in Pakistan, which transfers waters from western rivers of the Indus system to replenish the portion of the Ravi River lying in that country. Kathua is a city and municipal council located in Kathua district of Jammu Division of the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, near its border with Punjab, India and Himachal Pradesh. The city is headquarters of Kathua district and is divided into 27 wards which constitute the Kathua Municipal Council. It is situated along NH-44. Jalandhar–Jammu Line
The Jalandhar–Jammu line is a railway line connecting and in the Indian state of Punjab with in Jammu and Kashmir. The line is under the administrative jurisdiction of Northern Railway. This line was made after Indian Independence in 1947. Normally before partition of India and creation of Pakistan, trains to Jammu Tawi from Delhi used to run via Panipat, , Ludhiana, Jalandhar City, Amritsar, Lahore, Narowal and Sialkot. But after partition and creation of Pakistan in 1947, the Sialkot–Jammu Tawi line was dismantled and closed permanently. Jammu and Kashmir became cut off from rest of India.
