Mademoiselle (1966 Film)
''Mademoiselle'' is a 1966 French–British drama film directed by Tony Richardson. The dark drama won a BAFTA award and nomination and was featured in the 2007 Brooklyn Academy of Music French film retrospective. Jeanne Moreau plays an undetected sociopath, arsonist and poisoner, a respected visiting schoolteacher and sécretaire at the Mairie in a small French village. Synopsis As the film begins, Mademoiselle is shown opening floodgates to inundate the village, so there's never a moment in the film that the audience believes she's a normal upstanding citizen, as the villagers do. But the film provides little insight into her motivation; she has no cause for revenge, and acquires no material gain or increased standing in the community from her furtive crimes. Later, she sets fire to houses and poisons the drinking troughs, causing the death of farm animals. Tony Richardson
Cecil Antonio "Tony" Richardson (5 June 1928 – 14 November 1991) was an English theatre and film director and producer whose career spanned five decades. In 1964, he won the Academy Award for Best Director for the film ''Tom Jones (1963 film), Tom Jones''. Early life Richardson was born in Shipley, West Yorkshire, Shipley, West Riding of Yorkshire in 1928, the son of Elsie Evans (Campion) and Clarence Albert Richardson, a chemist. The Jean Gras was a small scale French automobile manufactured by a concern based in Issy-les-Moulineaux, Paris from 1924 until 1927. The company showed two cars at the Paris 1924 Salon, the Type A had a 1494 cc overhead camshaft engine and the Type B a 1200 cc pushrod overhead valve unit. Both engines were supplied by C.I.M.E.. Four wheel brakes using the Perrot system were fitted and the chassis carried a six-light saloon body. In 1927 a six-cylinder model with 1557 cc engine was added to the range. The cars were built in the former Philos factory at Lyon. Umberto Orsini (born 2 April 1934, in Novara) is an Italian stage, television and film actor. Born in Novara, Orsini gave up his career as notary to attend the Accademia Nazionale di Arte Drammatica Silvio D'Amico. Keith Skinner
Keith Skinner (born 1949) is a British actor and crime historian and author. Acting career He worked as an actor in cinema and television. His career began when he starred as Bruno in the 1966 film '' Mademoiselle''. In 1968, he was cast in Franco Zeffirelli's adaptation of ''Romeo and Juliet'' as Balthasar, Romeo's manservant and trusted friend.
