Madeleine (river)
The Madeleine is a river in north eastern France, in the Territoire de Belfort ''département''. It is 25.4 km long, and its basin area is 92 km². It begins in the Vosges mountains, near the commune of Lamadeleine-Val-des-Anges. It joins the river Saint-Nicolas in the village Bretagne at 340 m above sea level to form the river Bourbeuse. The river Bourbeuse is a tributary to the river Allan, which is a tributary to the river Doubs. Étueffont
Étueffont (; german: Staufen) is a commune in the Territoire de Belfort department in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in northeastern France. History The separate villages of Étueffont-Bas (founded in the 16th century, with 28 families in 1760) and Étueffont-Haut (founded in the 12th century, with 38 families in 1760) were merged into the current commune on 12 June 1973. Geography The town sits at the foot of the Vosges mountains on the banks of the river Madeleine, in the Regional Natural Park ''Les Ballons des Vosges.'' Doubs (river)
The Doubs (; frp, Dubs; german: Dub) is a river in far eastern France which strays into western Switzerland. It is a left-bank tributary of the Saône. It rises near Mouthe in the western Jura mountains, at and its mouth is at Verdun-sur-le-Doubs, a village and commune in Saône-et-Loire at about above sea level. It is the tenth-longest river in France. The most populous settlement of the basin lies on its banks, Besançon. Its course includes a small waterfall and a narrow lake. Course From its source in Mouthe it flows northeast: a few kilometers north of the French-Swiss border, then to form the border for less distance, about 40 km.
