Carabao (band)
Carabao ( th, คาราบาว) is a Thai rock band that is very popular in Thailand and other Asian countries. The group was formed in 1981 by university students Yuenyong Opakul ( Aed) and Kirati Promsaka Na Sakon Nakhon (Keo or Khiao) who met while studying at Mapúa Institute of Technology in the Philippines. The word ''carabao'' means "buffalo", a symbol of fighting, hard work, and patience. They are known for their Phleng phuea chiwit (เพลงเพื่อชีวิต) or 'songs for life'. This kind of music came to prominence through the protest songs of the 1970s political upheaval in Thailand, especially from the band Caravan. Carabao have blended the acoustic/folk style of 'peua chiwit' with other forms of Thai music, western rock and country music, and various kinds of world music like Latin music and reggae, earning such labels as 'ethnic rockers' and 'Kings of 3Cha' or 'Rolling Stones of Asia'. Phleng phuea chiwit ( th, เพลงเพื่อชีวิต; IPA:; lit. "songs for life") describes a type of Thai folk music, strongly influenced by elements of Western folk and rock music with a protest theme mainly centred on the hardship of working-class people and in favor of a democratic political system. Thai rock is rock music from Thailand. Thai rock was influenced by rock bands from the United States and United Kingdom. Emerging in the 1980s it flourished with bands like Asanee-Wasan and Micro. It became widely popular in the 1990s. 1970s Rock music emerged from the United States from a Blues rock base, gaining international popularity in the 1960s with bands like The Doors and musician Jimi Hendrix. The Thai rock genre began by Laem Morrison who performed for American soldiers during the Vietnam war. Early rock bands in the genre include V.I.P., led by Lam Morrison, and The Fox musical group. who helped to make rock music mainstream. 1980s Rock bands of this decade include The Olarn Project, Neua Gub Nang, and Rockestra. Magic Lizard ( th, กิ้งก่ากายสิทธิ์; ; lit: ''Magic lizard'') is a 1985 Thai Fantasy film, fantasy Monster film, monster adventure film directed and produced by Sompote Sands. The film's plot follows a large frilled lizard who sets out to retrieve a crystal stolen by aliens. Summary Magic Lizard is a large lizard who guards the crystal under the base of the pagoda of the Wat Arun, Temple of Dawn. The women's tournament in volleyball at the 2020 Summer Olympics was the 15th edition of the event at an Olympic Games, organised by the world's governing body, the FIVB, in conjunction with the IOC. It was held in Tokyo, Japan from 25 July to 8 August 2021. It was originally scheduled to take place from 26 July to 9 August 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the IOC and the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee announced on 24 March 2020 that the 2020 Summer Olympics would be delayed to 2021.
