Manufacturing In The United Kingdom
The United Kingdom, where the Industrial Revolution began in the late 18th century, has a long history of manufacturing, which contributed to Britain's early economic growth. During the second half of the 20th century, there was a steady decline in the importance of manufacturing and the economy of the United Kingdom shifted toward services. Manufacturing, however, remains important for overseas trade and accounted for 44% of goods exports in 2014. In June 2010, manufacturing in the United Kingdom accounted for 8.2% of the workforce and 12% of the country's national output. The East Midlands and West Midlands (at 12.6 and 11.8% respectively) were the regions with the highest proportion of employees in manufacturing. London had the lowest at 2.8%. History Manufacturing in the United Kingdom expanded on an unprecedented scale in the 19th century. Innovation in Britain led to revolutionary changes in manufacturing, the development of factory systems, and growth of transportation by ...

Made In England (Elton John Album)
''Made in England'' is the twenty-fourth studio album by English musician Elton John, released in 1995. It was produced by John and Greg Penny, the first time since '' Leather Jackets'' without Chris Thomas. The album was dedicated to John's boyfriend and future husband David Furnish. It was also dedicated to the memory of Denis Gauthier and Peter Williams. It was the last album to feature regular percussionist Ray Cooper until 2016's '' Wonderful Crazy Night''. Bob Birch became John's full-time recording and touring bass player and continued that role until his death in 2012. The song "Please" was covered by bluegrass singer Rhonda Vincent and country singer Dolly Parton for the 2018 tribute album '' Restoration: Reimagining the Songs of Elton John and Bernie Taupin''. Background While still promoting his work for ''The Lion King'' soundtrack, in September 1994, five months before its release as a single, Elton John debuted " Believe" during the opening night of a con ...

Made In England (song)
"Made in England" is a song by English musician Elton John, released in May 1995 as the title track and second single from his twenty-fourth studio album of the same name (1995). It is an autobiographical telling of his growing up, parts of his life, and what life is like in England. The song peaked at number 18 on the UK Singles Chart and number five on the Canadian ''RPM'' Top Singles chart, topping the ''RPM'' Adult Contemporary chart for one week. In the United States, the song peaked at number 52 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and number 12 on the ''Billboard'' Adult Contemporary chart. Meaning The song is deliberately made to sound pro-English, but its underlying currents are actually very negative and scolding of some of the English stereotypes, cliches and the shameless paparazzi that he had to deal with during his 40 years in England, notably his court battle with '' The Sun'' in 1987 in which they ran a series of false stories about his personal life. The key line at th ...

Made In England (Atomic Rooster Album)
''Made in England'' is the fourth album by British rock band Atomic Rooster. Although previously known for generally having a progressive rock style, this album saw the band moving in more of a funk/soul direction, largely influenced by new singer Chris Farlowe. Apart from founder member Vincent Crane, the album was recorded by an entirely different lineup to that of the band's prior effort, ''In Hearing of Atomic Rooster''. Previous members John Du Cann and Paul Hammond had departed in protest at Crane's intended new musical direction. In the UK and Germany, original copies of the LP came wrapped in an actual denim sleeve. Later pressings came in a standard art sleeve. In the US, the record was issued on Elektra in the standard sleeve. It was further reissued in Germany in 1977, this time in yet another new sleeve and retitled ''This is Atomic Rooster''. The only UK single from ''Made in England'' was " Stand by Me". The album reached #60 in Canada. Track listing Side o ...
