Madauk ( mnw, ကမာဍိုတ်; my, မဒေါက်) is a town located in Nyaunglebin Township, Bago Region of Myanmar. Madauk is an ancient city that has been famous since the time of the ancient Mon kings. Etymology The town's name is of Mon origin. Pronounced Kamadauk, it literally translates to "brick reservoir" in Mon. Bago Region ( my, ပဲခူးတိုင်းဒေသကြီး, ; formerly Pegu Division and Bago Division) is an administrative region of Myanmar, located in the southern central part of the country. It is bordered by Magway Region and Mandalay Region to the north; Kayin State, Mon State and the Gulf of Martaban to the east; Yangon Region to the south and Ayeyarwady Region and Rakhine State to the west. Bago District ( my, ပဲခူးခရိုင်) is a district of the Bago Region in central Burma (Myanmar). The region's capital, Bago, is located in the district. Bago District is bordered by Mon State to the southeast, Kayin State to the east, and Yangon Region to the southwest.
