Arthur Millett
Arthur Millett (April 21, 1874 in Pittsfield, Maine – February 24, 1952 in Los Angeles, California), born Arthur Nelson Millett, was an early American motion picture actor whose career was at its height in the silent film era. Biography Born in 1874, Millett was signed on to appear in his first film relatively late in life at age 40 in 1914, but immediately work began to pick up. His first film ''The Lost Treasure'' was released in 1914. In 1915, he starred in films such as '' Coals of Fire'' and ''The Law of the Wilds'', working with prolific actors such as Harry von Meter and Vivian Rich. Millett starred in a total of 116 film in his career. With the advent of sound films, however, his career declined significantly. In the majority of the roles in his 60 or so films after 1927, Millett was uncredited. Millett was married to actress Neva Gerber. He retired from film in 1940 and died in 1952. Wilbur Higby (August 21, 1867 – December 1, 1934) was an American actor of the silent era. He appeared in more than 70 films between 1914 and 1934. Stage In the mid-1890s, Higby was a member of the stock company of the Grand Opera House in Boston, Massachusetts. Later in the 1890s and into the early 1900s, he performed with other stock groups in a variety of locales such as York, Pennsylvania; Rochester, New York; and Brooklyn, New York. By 1903, Higby had his own troupe, the Wilbur Higby Dramatic Company, which was described in a newspaper article as "one of the highest class repertoire organizations in this country." Within four years, however, the Higby Company had apparently ceased to exist. A 1907 newspaper article described Higby as "leading man with the Morey Stock Co. this season." Triangle Film Corporation (also known as Triangle Motion Picture Company) was a major American motion-picture studio, founded in July 1915 in Culver City, California and terminated 7 years later in 1922. History The studio was founded in July 1915 by Harry and Roy Aitken, two brothers from the Wisconsin farmlands who pioneered the studio system of Hollywood's Golden Age. Harry was also D. W. Griffith's partner at Reliance-Majestic Studios; both parted with the Mutual Film Corporation in the wake of ''The Birth of a Nation'' unexpected success that year. Triangle was envisioned as a prestige studio based on the producing abilities of filmmakers D. W. Griffith, Thomas Ince and Mack Sennett. On November 23, 1915, the Triangle Film Corporation opened a state-of-the-art motion picture theater in Massillon, Ohio.
