Madambi Subramanian Namboodiri is a Kathakali musician from Kerala, India. He received several noted awards including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, Kerala State Kathakali Award, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Award and Kerala Kalamandalam Award. Biography Subramanian Namboodiri was born in Madambi Manai in Sreekrishnapuram village of Palakkad district in 1943 to Sankaran Namboodiri and Sridevi Antharjanam. As a child, Madambi wanted to study music and started studying music at Poomully Manai. Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar, Kongorpilli and Ramankutty Warrier were the main teachers at Poomully that time. After studying at Poomully for two months, he joined Kalamandalam in 1957 to study Kathakali music. Gandhi Seva Sadan
Gandhi Seva Sadan is a Kathakali institution located in Perur village, some 12 kilometres east of Ottapalam in Palakkad district of north-central Kerala in southern India. It was founded in 1953 by the (late) Gandhian and freedom fighter K. Kumaran, equally known for his unflagging devotion to the promotion of the arts. Having celebrated its golden jubilee, Sadanam Kathakali and Classic Arts Academy is one of the four oldest schools providing training in the classical dance-drama of Kathakali in the traditional residential (gurukula) style. Kathakali ( ml, കഥകളി) is a major form of classical Indian dance. It is a "story play" genre of art, but one distinguished by the elaborately colourful make-up and costumes of the traditional male actor-dancers. Kalamandalam Hyderali
Kalamandalam Hyderali (5 September 1946 – 5 January 2006) ( ml, കലാമണ്ഡലം ഹൈദരാലി) was one of the best Kathakali singers of his generation, and the first non-Hindu artiste to make a mark in the four-century-old classical dance-drama from Kerala in south India. Life Hyderali was a native of Ottupara in Wadakkanchery of Thrissur district. His father, Moidutty, was an exponent of Mappila Paattu. The art world first took notice of little Hyderali's talent when he won a local-level competition, singing the Malayalam film song "Kalle Kaniville".It was when he was 11 years old that Hyderali joined Kerala Kalamandalam.
