Mad Buddies
''Mad Buddies'' is a 2012 South African comedy film directed by Gray Hofmeyr, co-written by Gray Hofmeyr and Leon Schuster, and starring Leon Schuster, Kenneth Nkosi, Tanit Phoenix and Alfred Ntombela. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures acquired the film's distribution rights and released the film through the Touchstone Pictures banner. This production is an unofficial remake of the Jamie Uys films ''Fifty/Vyftig'', ''Hans en die Rooinek'' and '' All the Way to Paris'': films which, like this one, depict two adversaries having to assist each other to get out of awkward situations. Gray Hofmeyr
Gray Hofmeyr (born 6 February 1949 in Cape Town, South Africa) is a South African film and television director. In a career that spans almost three decades, Hofmeyr's films have touched many themes and genres. Biography Gray Hofmeyr is considered to be one of the foremost film and television directors and writers in South Africa. He has won more awards than any other in South Africa and over twenty actors and actresses have won best performance awards under his direction. Career Hofmeyr began his career in television in the 1970s in the United Kingdom where he was a floor manager at the BBC. He began directing for television in 1975 and in 1992 began an award-winning scriptwriting career. Jamie Uys
Jacobus Johannes Uys (; 30 May 1921 – 29 January 1996), better known as Jamie Uys, was a South African film director, best known for directing the 1980 comedy film ''The Gods Must Be Crazy'' and its 1989 sequel ''The Gods Must Be Crazy II''. Uys also directed the 1974 documentary film ''Animals Are Beautiful People''. Early life Before his foray into film, Uys was a mathematics teacher in his hometown of Boksburg. He then married Hettie, a fellow mathematics teacher, and the couple started farming and opening trading posts along the Palala River.
