Macón (horse)
Macón was an undefeated Argentinian Thoroughbred racehorse. Background Macón was bred by Haras Ojo de Agua and foaled in 1922. He was sold as a two-year-old in 1924 and was purchased at a high price by Jorge Mitre for his Stud Don Alfonso. Racing career Macón was undefeated in 15 starts. Macón debuted in February 1925, winning a 900-meter race. In the 1925 Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini, Macón set a record for the race of 3:06, which lasted for many years. He won the 1926 Gran Premio de Honor by multiple lengths in a time of 3:42. Macón broke the earnings record in Argentina by winning the 1926 Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini with earnings of 404,623 pesos. Stud Record Macón was acquired by Haras Argentino to stand at stud. He continued to stand at stud there for the rest of his stud career, and died there in 1945. Macón peaked on the Argentine sire list in 1933 at fifth. Your Majesty (horse)
Your Majesty (1905–1934) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and sire, best known for highly unpopular wins the Eclipse Stakes and the Classic St Leger Stakes in 1908. The colt ran at least twelve times and won five races in a career which lasted from June 1907 until July 1909. Your Majesty was campaigned against the best of the year's two-year-olds in 1907 but won only once from five starts. The following season he finished unplaced in the 2000 Guineas and missed the Derby through illness. He then won four races in succession: the St. James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, the Eclipse Stakes at Sandown Park, the St George Stakes at Liverpool and the St Leger at Doncaster. He was the leading money-winner of the British season but his successes were poorly received owing to the unpopularity of his owner. Bend Or
Bend Or (1877–1903) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse who won the 1880 Epsom Derby. His regular jockey Fred Archer, winner of thirteen consecutive British jockey titles, said Bend Or was probably the greatest horse he had ever ridden. Nomenclature His name is the heraldic term for "a bend (i.e. diagonal stripe) that is golden or yellow in color ( or)", and is a reference to the ancient former arms of the Grosvenor family which were adjudged against them in 1389 to the Scrope family in the most famous case ever heard before the Court of Chivalry, known as ''Scrope v Grosvenor''. The Duke also awarded it as a lifelong family nickname to his grandson Hugh Grosvenor, 2nd Duke of Westminster (1879–1953), born in the year before the Derby win.
