Macon Steel
The Macon Steel was a professional indoor football team based in Macon, Georgia. The team played most of the 2012 season as a member of American Indoor Football. The Steel played its home games at the Macon Coliseum. The Macon Steel folded on May 6, 2012, due to financial difficulties. At the time, then-Steel head coach Ervin Bryson announced he was going to form a new American Indoor Football team for Macon called the Macon Irons to start play in 2013, but the team never came to fruition. The Steel was the second arena/indoor football team to be based in Macon, following the af2's Macon Knights, which played from 2001 until 2006. Macon Coliseum
The Macon Coliseum is a multi-purpose arena in Macon, Georgia, United States. It is home to the Macon Mayhem, a minor-league hockey team in the Southern Professional Hockey League. The Centerplex was home to the Macon Whoopee (ECHL), Macon Whoopee (CHL) and Macon Trax ice hockey teams and the Macon Knights arena football team. It seats 7,182 for hockey and arena football and up to 9,252 for concerts. History Macon Centreplex was built in 1968 as the first facility of its size and kind in the state. Mayor Ronnie Thompson was among its most influential backers. The Carolina Force was a professional indoor American football team based in Concord, North Carolina. The team began play in 2012 as an expansion member of American Indoor Football (AIF). The Force played their home games at the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center. Cape Fear Heroes
The Cape Fear Heroes were a professional indoor football team based in Fayetteville, North Carolina. They last played in the American Arena League in 2019. The Heroes were owned by Barbara Spigner. They began play in 2012 as an expansion member of American Indoor Football (AIF). The Heroes fared very well in their first three seasons of play, going to back-to-back-to-back AIF Championship Games, going undefeated in 2012. The Heroes finished as runner-up in 2013 and 2014. In 2015, it was announced that the Heroes would be leaving the AIF, and joining the X-League Indoor Football (X-League). In June 2015, the team's season was abruptly ended when they were suspended by the league. The Georgia Doom were a professional indoor football team based out of Macon, Georgia. They play their home games at Macon Coliseum.
