Macon, Georgia Metropolitan Area
The Macon metropolitan area is a metropolitan area consisting of five counties in Central Georgia (Bibb, Crawford, Jones, Monroe, and Twiggs) anchored by the principal city of Macon. The Office of Management and Budget defines the area as one of its metropolitan statistical areas (the Macon, GA MSA), a designation used for statistical purposes by the United States Census Bureau and other agencies. As of the 2010 census, the five-county area had a population of 232,293. A July 2017 estimate placed the population at 228,914. Roberta, Georgia
Roberta is a city in Crawford County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,007 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Macon Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Creek Agency In the early nineteenth century, Indian agent Benjamin Hawkins built his plantation on the Flint River near Roberta. This was also a trading post and the Creek Agency. New Knoxville Originally in Crawford County, Knoxville was the only stop in the county, until the A&F Railroad bypassed it by about a mile to the southwest when it was built in 1888. A train station was built, and a new town sprang up. People migrated towards this new town, called "New Knoxville." Lizella is an unincorporated community in Bibb and Crawford County, Georgia, United States, approximately southwest of Macon. It is part of the Macon Metropolitan Statistical Area. Haddock, Georgia
Haddock (also known as Haddocks Station) is an unincorporated community in Jones County, Georgia, United States. It lies along State Route 22, to the east of the city of Gray, the county seat. Its elevation is 499 feet (152 m). It has a post office with the ZIP code 31033. Haddock is named for the Haddock family, who owned a large plantation in the area. It was once an incorporated town (1905) with schools, a train station, a saw mill, a bank, and a canning factory. The town had its beginnings in the 1870s. Smarr is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Monroe County, in the U.S. state of Georgia. It was first listed as a CDP in the 2020 census with a population of 218. Named for Juliette McCracken, daughter of a railroad engineer, the town formed with the merging of Brownsville and Iceberg.
