Anderson Delano Macklin
Anderson Delano Macklin (January 17, 1933 – July 26, 2001), also known as A. D. Macklin, was an American artist, professor, art historian, and author. He chaired the art department at a few historically black colleges, including Jackson State University, Virginia State University, and at Wiley College. Biography He was born on January 17, 1933, in Luther, Oklahoma. He was the son of Alice (née Anderson) and Herman Macklin, and was the eldest son. Macklin was a graduate of Douglass High School in Oklahoma City. He attended Lincoln University (B. S. degree, 1954) where he studied art education; followed by studies in painting at the University of Missouri (M. A. degree, 1956). Matthew Macklin (born 14 May 1982) is a British-Irish former professional boxer who competed from 2001 to 2016, and has since worked as a boxing manager and commentator. He challenged three times for middleweight world titles between 2011 and 2013, and held multiple regional championships at that weight: the Boxing Union of Ireland, Irish title from 2005 to 2006, the British Boxing Board of Control, British title in 2009, and the European Boxing Union, European title from 2009 to 2011. Vernon Leon Macklin (born September 25, 1986) is an American basketball coach and former professional basketball player. He is an assistant coach of the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis in the Korean Basketball League (KBL). Macklin played college basketball for the University of Florida before being drafted was by the Detroit Pistons in the second round of the 2011 NBA draft. Thomas Eyre Macklin RBA (30 March 1863 – 1 August 1943) was a British painter in oils and watercolour, illustrator, sculptor and designer of monuments, who signed his works T. Eyre Macklin or T.E. Macklin. After a promising career at various art schools, including the Royal Academy, in the late 19th century Macklin produced Romantic black-and-white illustrations for books, numerous landscapes, figurative paintings and civic portraits, all of which came to the attention of local newspapers in his native Newcastle upon Tyne. In the 20th century he concentrated on Art Deco monuments and other sculpture, his best-known works being the South African War Memorial in Newcastle, the Bangor Memorial, County Down, and the Land Wars Memorial at Auckland, New Zealand. Durand "Rudy" Macklin (born February 19, 1958) is an American former professional basketball player. A 6'7" forward from Louisville, Kentucky, Macklin played at Louisiana State University from 1976 to 1981. In his very first game for LSU, he grabbed 32 rebounds against Tulane University. He missed most of the 1978–79 season because of an ankle injury, but recovered, and was named an NCAA First Team All-American in 1980 and 1981. As a senior, he was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Year and led LSU to the NCAA Final Four. He graduated as LSU's all-time leading rebounder (1,276) and second-all-time leading scorer (2,080). In 1981, Macklin was selected by the Atlanta Hawks with the 52nd overall pick of the NBA draft. Paul Harold Macklin, PC, MP (born May 22, 1944 in Northumberland County, Ontario) is a Canadian politician. He was a member of the House of Commons of Canada, representing the riding of Northumberland—Quinte West of the Liberal Party caucus from 2000 to 2006. Macklin has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario, and a law degree from the University of Windsor. After being called to the bar, Macklin worked for the Toronto firm of Davies, Ward & Beck. John Farrell "Big John" Macklin (October 17, 1883 – October 10, 1949) was an American football player, coach of football, basketball, baseball and track and field, and a college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach at Michigan Agricultural College, now Michigan State University from 1911 to 1915. With a five-year record of 29–5, he has the highest winning percentage of any football coach in Michigan State history. Macklin coached the Michigan State Spartans football team to its first ever victories over Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Penn State.
