''The Terror of Rome Against the Son of Hercules'' ( it, Maciste, gladiatore di Sparta) is a 1964 peplum film directed by Mario Caiano and starring Mark Forest and Marilù Tolo. Plot The hero Maciste suffers with the Christians the persecution from the Roman Empire. He, as a Spartan gladiator, falls in love with a young Christian and must save her from his condemnation in the arena. Maciste makes a desperate attempt to save the Christians. He will have to win monsters and gladiators to get the victory and stay with his beloved. Mario Caiano (February 13, 1933 – September 20, 2015) was an Italian film director, screenwriter, producer, art director and second unit director. Career Born in Rome, he directed nearly 50 films between 1961 and 2001 and wrote some 27 films and TV scripts since 1954. He is primarily known for his work on Spaghetti Westerns, Pepla, Euro Crime and to a slightly lesser degree on horror films. Ferruccio Amendola (22 July 1930 – 3 September 2001) was an Italian actor and voice actor. Biography Born in Turin to actors Federico Amendola and Amelia Ricci and the nephew of director and screenwriter Mario Amendola, he was among Italy's most accomplished actors who worked for cinema and television and also did extensive voice dubbing work. Amendola moved to Rome with his family at a young age and he made his film debut at age 13 in ''Gian Burrasca'' directed by Sergio Tofano and continued working on cinema, television and theatre in his later years. In 1945, Amendola made his voice-over debut dubbing over Vito Annicchiarico's role in the film ''Rome, Open City''. Maciste () is one of the oldest recurring characters of cinema, created by Gabriele d'Annunzio and Giovanni Pastrone. He is featured throughout the history of the cinema of Italy from the 1910s to the mid-1960s. He is usually depicted as a Hercules-like figure, utilizing his massive strength to achieve heroic feats that ordinary men cannot. Something Weird Video is an American film distributor company based in Seattle, Washington. They specialize in exploitation B to Z films, particularly the works of Harry Novak, Doris Wishman, David F. Friedman and Herschell Gordon Lewis. Inspiration The company is named after Lewis' 1967 film '' Something Weird'', and the logo is taken from that film's original poster art. History Something Weird Video was founded in 1990 by Mike Vraney in Seattle. He was inspired by his teenage job as a theater projectionist.
