Machan Varghese
M. L. Varghese (1960 – 3 February 2011), popularly known by stage name Machan Varghese, was a Malayalam film actor and mimicry artist. He started his career as a mimicry artist in Kalabhavan (house of arts) and debuted as an actor through ''Kabooliwala''. Thereafter he played many notable roles in Malayalam films, mainly as a comedian. His association with Siddique-Lal, Rafi-Mecartin and Lal Jose are particularly noted. Within a career of nearly two decades, he acted in over 100 films. Varghese died on 3 February 2011 in Kozhikode of cancer. He was aged 50. Education & Family M. L. Varghese (Machan) completed his high school education in 1970's from St. Albert's High School, Ernakulam. He was married to Elsy. The couple have a son Robin Varghese and a daughter Rincy. ''Kabooliwala'' is a 1994 Indian Malayalam-language coming of age comedy drama film, written and directed by Siddique-Lal, starring Innocent and Jagathy Sreekumar. The film was remade in Tamil as ''Meesai Madhavan'' (2004). Plot The story begins in Delhi. Unni is the four-year-old son of a Doctor and Sridevi. Unni has two elder sisters. On Unni's fourth birthday the Doctor is late for the celebration; but he gives Unni a bugle which he likes very much. The same night while they were celebrating Unni's birthday, a Kabooli named Ameer comes to the docto with a child who is suffering from fever. The doctor does not treat the child but asks him to take the child to hospital. He receives a call at midnight that Ameer's son is in critical condition. ''Mannar Mathai Speaking'' is a 1995 Indian Malayalam-language comedy thriller film produced and directed by Mani C. Kappan and written by Siddique-Lal. The stars Mukesh, Innocent, Sai Kumar, Vani Viswanath, Biju Menon, Geetha Vijayan, K. P. Ummer, Kaviyoor Ponnamma, Janardhanan, Indrans, Vijayaraghavan, Sukumari, Harisree Ashokan and Cochin Haneefa. It is a sequel to the 1989 film '' Ramji Rao Speaking'', and is followed by ''Mannar Mathai Speaking 2'' (2014). Vani Viswanath made her debut in this film as a leading actress. The film was a commercial success. It is loosely based on the 1958 film ''Vertigo''. Priyadarshan adapted certain subplots of the film for his Hindi film, ''Bhagam Bhag'' (2006), which went on to be remade in Telugu as ''Brahmanandam Drama Company''.
