Macedonian Handball Federation
The Macedonian Handball Federation ( Macedonian: Ракометна федерација на Македонија) commonly known by its acronym, RFM, is the national governing body of handball in North Macedonia. Its headquarters are in Skopje and it reestablish its membership as a single Republic of the EHF and IHF in 1993. Macedonian Handball Federation is responsible for the organization and governance of handball's major local championships in the country and also runs the Macedonian Men's and Women's national teams. Skopje
Skopje ( , , ; mk, Скопје ; sq, Shkup) is the capital and largest city of North Macedonia. It is the country's political, cultural, economic, and academic centre. The territory of Skopje has been inhabited since at least 4000 BC; remains of Neolithic settlements have been found within the old Kale Fortress that overlooks the modern city centre. Originally a Paeonian city, Scupi became the capital of Dardania in the second century BC. On the eve of the 1st century AD, the settlement was seized by the Romans and became a military camp. When the Roman Empire was divided into eastern and western halves in 395 AD, Scupi came under Byzantine rule from Constantinople. Handball In North Macedonia
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it. The sport is usually played indoors, but outdoor variants exist in the forms of field handball, Czech handball (which were more common in the past) and beach handball. 2022 European Women's Handball Championship
The 2022 European Women's Handball Championship was held in Slovenia, North Macedonia and Montenegro from 4 to 20 November 2022. It showed an impressive action by the norwegian right-back Nora Mørk, who was the top scorer of the EHF EURO 2022, and Henny Reistad, the MVP. The tournament has been advanced a month in order not to coincide with the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The top three team qualified for the 2023 World Championship and the winner will also qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics. Norway won their ninth title after defeating Denmark in the final. European Women's Handball Championship
The European Women's Handball Championship is the official competition for senior women's national handball teams of Europe, and takes place every two years. In addition to crowning the European champions, the tournament also serves as a qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games and World Championship. As of December 2020, the only teams that have ever won the championship are Norway (Nine times), Denmark (three times), Hungary, Montenegro and France (each once).
