Republic of Macedonia, under the name of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (now North Macedonia), competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. The Olympic Committee of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia selected a team of six athletes, two men and four women, to compete in four different sports at these Games. For the first time in Olympic history, Macedonia was represented by more women than men. Shooting At The 2016 Summer Paralympics – Women's 10 Metre Air Pistol SH1
The Women's 10 metre air pistol SH1 event at the 2016 Summer Paralympics took place on 9 September at the Olympic Shooting Centre in Rio. The event consisted of two rounds: a qualifier and a final. In the qualifier, each shooter fired 40 shots with an air rifle at 10 metres distance from the "standing" (interpreted to include seated in wheelchairs) position. Scores for each shot were in increments of 1, with a maximum score of 10. The top 8 shooters in the qualifying round moved on to the final round. There, they fired an additional 10 shots. These shots scored in increments of .1, with a maximum score of 10.9. The total score from all 50 shots were used to determine the final ranking. Olivera Nakovska-Bikova (born 11 November 1974) is a Macedonian paralympian and sports shooter who won the gold medal in the women's 10 metre air pistol SH1 at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, England. Olivera is also competing in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics Games. Career Olivera Nakovska-Bikova was born in Bitola, SR Macedonia. She went on to compete in shooting sports, becoming successful specifically with air pistols, winning the European Championships in 2001 and being part of the team who won the silver medal at the 2002 IPC Shooting World Championships. She attended her first Summer Paralympics in Athens, Greece, in 2004, where she finished sixth in the competition. She qualified for the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, England, following a third-place result at a World Cup event in Zagreb in 2010. Swimming at the 2016 Paralympic Games was held from 8 to 17 September 2016 at Rio Olympic Aquatics Stadium. The competition consisted of 152 events, across multiple classifications, and all swum in a long course (50-metre) pool. Up to 600 swimmers (340 males, 260 females) competed in the Games. Athletics events at the 2016 Summer Paralympics were held in the Estádio Olímpico João Havelange in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from September 2016. 177 events were held across both genders where 1,100 athletes competed. The athletics programme was the largest element of the Games programme in terms of entrants and medals awarded.
