Macau New Urban Zone
The Macau New Urban Zone (; pt, Novos Aterros Urbanos de Macau) is a currently under land reclamation in Macau, China, that has not yet been assigned to any of the freguesias. Municipalities And Parishes Of Macau
By the end of Portuguese rule, Macau was administratively divided into two municipalities ( pt, concelhos) and seven civil parishes ( pt, freguesias). Parishes were administrative subdivisions of the municipalities. After Transfer of sovereignty over Macau, the 1999 handover to China, parishes are still officially recognized divisions but for symbolic reasons only. Parishes were formerly administrative divisions falling under the former two municipalities of Macau: Municipality of Macau, Macau and Municipality of Ilhas, Ilhas. Following the 1999 transfer of sovereignty over Macau from Portugal to China, these municipalities were formally abolished on 31 December 2001 by Law No. 17/2001. Taipa Ferry Terminal
The Taipa Ferry Terminal (; pt, Terminal Marítimo de Passageiros da Taipa) is located in Taipa, Macau SAR. It is located in the reclamation area of Pac On and is adjacent to the Macau International Airport. The terminal provides high-speed passenger ferry services from Macau to Hong Kong, Zhuhai, Shenzhen and Dongguan. Prior to the opening of the permanent passenger terminal, in order to speed up the pressure of diverting the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal, the Taipa Temporary Ferry Terminal was built and opened on 16 October 2007. The inauguration of the present permanent passenger terminal was held on 18 May 2017, presided over by the chief executive, Fernando Chui, and the secretary for transport and public works, Raimundo Arrais do Rosário. Cotai
Cotai (; pt, Zona do Aterro de Cotai) is a piece of newly reclaimed land on top of Seac Pai Bay between Taipa and Coloane islands in Macau, that has made two independent islands become one island, since 2005. The word (a portmanteau of Coloane and Taipa) can also refer to the entire new island which was formed by the reclamation. In the second sense, the Special Administrative Region of Macau now consists of the Macau Peninsula plus Cotai Island, about a mile to the south. Cotai was created to provide Macau with a new gambling and tourism area since Macau is so densely populated and land is scarce, and many hotels and casinos can be found there now. Ponte De Amizade
The Amizade Bridge is a four-lane, two-way bridge in Macau that connects Macau Peninsula near the Reservatório and Taipa Island at Pac On. Built after the Macau–Taipa Bridge, it is the second one that connects the peninsula and Taipa across the Zhujiang River Estuary. Thus it is also referred to as the New Macau–Taipa Bridge. Construction started in June 1990. Opened to traffic in March 1994, it is the longest of the three bridges crossing Baía da Praia Grande between Macau Peninsula and Taipa, with a length of , including of connecting viaduct, and a width of . Altira Macau (, Portuguese: Altira Macau) formerly known as Crown Macau, is an integrated resort and casino in Taipa, Macau, SAR China. The hotel complex has 216 guest rooms and a spa. Altira Macau is the tallest building in Taipa and among the tallest 20 buildings in Macau. Ponte Governador Nobre De Carvalho
The Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge, also known as the Macau–Taipa Bridge, is a dual-lane two-way bridge connecting Macau Peninsula near Casino Lisboa, Macau, Casino Lisboa and the island of Taipa at the northern slope of Taipa Pequena (Small Taipa Hill) crossing the former Baía da Praia Grande. It is the first bridge in Macau, to connect the peninsula and Taipa. It is locally known as "The Old Bridge" (). The flag of Macau uses this bridge as an emblem. Ponte De Sai Van
Sai Van Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge in Macau, China, inaugurated on December 19, 2004. The bridge measures long and is the third one to cross the Praia Grande Bay connecting Taipa Island and Macau Peninsula. It features a double-deck design, with an enclosed lower deck to be used in the event of strong typhoons when the other two bridges connecting Taipa and Macau Peninsula, namely Ponte Governador Nobre de Carvalho and Ponte de Amizade, are closed. Freguesia De Nossa Senhora Do Carmo
Freguesia de Nossa Senhora do Carmo is a civil parish in Macao Special Administrative Region. The major part of the freguesia is located in Taipa but it runs through to Hengqin Island in mainland China. The freguesia is named after the Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Carmo. It is the largest freguesia in Macau with an area of 7.9 square kilometers. History and Geography It is a common misconception that Freguesia de Nossa Senhora do Carmo equals Taipa. When Macau was still under the colonial rule of Portugal, there were no freguesias defined on the islands of Taipa and Coloane by the Portuguese Macau government, but the Diocese of Macau established the Paróquia de Nossa Senhora do Carmo (Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish), covering Taipa Island. The Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal ( pt, Terminal Marítimo de Passageiros do Porto Exterior; ), also known as the ''Macau Maritime Ferry Terminal'', ''Macau Ferry Terminal'' or ''Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Pier'' in Chinese (), is a ferry terminal located at Porto Exterior, Sé, Macau, China. History The pier was formerly located near present-day Oceanus Casino, ex-New Yaohan Store on Avenida da Amizade. In 1993, the terminal was relocated to its present location.
