Macario Saldate IV (born December 13, 1941) is an American politician and a former Democratic member of the Arizona House of Representatives representing District 3 from 2013 to 2019. Saldate previously served consecutively from January 10, 2011, until January 14, 2013, in the District 27 seat. Education Saldate earned his BA, MA degrees, and EdD from the University of Arizona. Arizona's 3rd Legislative District is one of 30 in the state, consisting of a section of Maricopa County. As of 2023, there are 58 precincts in the district, all in Maricopa, with a total registered voter population of 175,721. The district has an overall population of 236,955. An independent or non-partisan politician is a politician not affiliated with any political party or bureaucratic association. There are numerous reasons why someone may stand for office as an independent. Some politicians have political views that do not align with the platforms of any political party, and therefore choose not to affiliate with them. The Arizona Green Party (AZGP) is the officially recognized affiliate of the Green Party in the state of Arizona. It was founded by Carolyn Campbell alongside others in the 1990s. Olivia Cajero Bedford (August 15, 1938 – February 9, 2022) was an American politician who was a Democratic member of the Arizona Senate, representing District 3 from 2013 to 2019.
