Macao Orchestra
The Macao Orchestra also known as the Macau Orchestra ( pt, Orquestra de Macau, ) is a professional orchestra based in the Chinese special administrative region of Macao. Consisting of approximately 60 members from Asia, Europe, North America and Australia, the orchestra performs symphonic, chamber, and educational concerts around Macau. The orchestra also tours mainland China two or three times per year and in 2007 performed in Jakarta, Indonesia. In Macau, the orchestra performs at the Macau Cultural Centre, San Domingo Church, Macau Tower and Dom Pedro V Theatre. The orchestra is run as a division of the Macau Cultural Institute (Instituto Cultural), the arts arm of the Macau government. Formed in 1983 by Father Aureo de Castro as the Macao Chamber Orchestra, the orchestra underwent a series of reviews and expansions, becoming a full-time professional ensemble in 2003. The special administrative regions (SAR) of the People's Republic of China are one of the provincial-level administrative divisions of the People's Republic of China directly under the control of its Central People's Government (State Council), being integral areas of the country. Macau Cultural Centre
The Macao Cultural Centre (CCM; ; pt, Centro Cultural de Macau) is a cultural centre in Sé, Macau, China. History The cultural centre was founded in 1999 with a cost of US$100 million. In August 2017, the roof of the cultural center was damaged due to Typhoon Hato. Architecture The cultural center is housed in a five-storey building with a total area of 45,000 m2. Lü Jia (; born 1964 in Shanghai) is a Chinese-born Italian conductor. In 1991, when he was only 26, he was appointed as the Music Director of the Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi and from 1991 to 1995 he was also principal conductor. Valentina Igoshina
Valentina Igoshina (born 4 November 1978 in Bryansk, Bryansk Oblast) is a Russian classical pianist. She has won several international piano competitions. Biography Valentina Igoshina began studying piano with her mother, and first took lessons at home at the age of four. At the age of twelve she began attending the Moscow Central School of Music for gifted students and became a pupil of Sergei Dorensky and Larissa Dedova at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. Igoshina has also served as a teacher of piano at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. Pinchas Zukerman ( he, פנחס צוקרמן, born 16 July 1948) is an Israeli-American violinist, violist and conductor. Life and career Zukerman was born in Tel Aviv, to Jewish parents and Holocaust survivors Yehuda and Miriam Lieberman Zukerman. He began his musical studies at age four, on the recorder. His father then taught him to play the clarinet and then the violin at age eight. Early studies were at the Samuel Rubin Academy of Music (now the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music).
