Ronald "Mac" Cuan is a Filipino professional basketball coach and former collegiate player who is currently an assistant coach for the Iloilo United Royals in the MPBL. Playing A former De La Salle Green Archer, he drafted and played for Sta. Lucia Realtors for two seasons. Coaching Early career He served as an assistant coach for his alma mater La Salle specializing on video coordinator, and for San Miguel Beermen in the ABL. PBA Cuan was the lead assistant of the GlobalPort Batang Pier in 2014 to 2016. MPBL
The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) is a men's professional basketball league in the Philippines. History Manny Pacquiao launched the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League on August 29, 2017, starting off as a semi-professional league. According to Pacquiao, the league is not intended to be a competitor to the Philippine Basketball Association, the country's top professional basketball league. The MPBL was intended to feature both a regional commercial and barangay-level league with teams on the commercial side to have a home locality in addition to a corporate sponsor. In the first months, the league hosted teams from Luzon with future plans to expand to accommodate teams based in Visayas and Mindanao like the defunct Metropolitan Basketball Association. NorthPort Batang Pier
The NorthPort Batang Pier is a Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) team that first played in the 2012–13 PBA season. The team took over the franchise of the Powerade Tigers in 2012 after it was sold to Sultan 900 Capital, Inc. Besides NorthPort, team owner Mikee Romero also co-owned the AirAsia Philippine Patriots of the ASEAN Basketball League. John Paul Cuan is a Filipino professional basketball coach and former collegiate player who is currently an assistant coach for the UST Growling Tigers of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). Career Playing Cuan played for UST Growling Tigers under Pido Jarencio, and one of his notable years with the team was playing in the finals against Ateneo Blue Eagles in 2006. They won the finals series even though they lost in game 1, the championship was won, as the last was in 1996. In 2008,in only the third game of the Tigers, he suffered a torn meniscus on his knee which required surgery. He was able to return in the second round while playing limited minutes. He graduated in the same year with business administration course. He applied for PBA draft in 2013, but went undrafted. Coaching In 2016, he became an assistant coach for Alab Pilipinas. The UST Growling Tigers basketball is the intercollegiate men's basketball program of the University of Santo Tomas. The school has won 19 basketball titles including one in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). They are one of the winningest teams in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) with 18 championships, the last coming in 2006 during Pido Jarencio's rookie year of coaching. The Imus Agimat is a Filipino professional basketball team based in Imus, Cavite. The team currently competes in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) as a member of the league's South Division. They are one of five teams based in the Calabarzon region and play their home games at Imus Sports Complex. The team joined in 2018 as a charter team of the MPBL. For a majority of their history, the team was known as the Imus Bandera, a reference to Imus being known as the "Flag Capital of the Philippines".
