Clan Gregor, also known as Clan MacGregor, () is a Highland Scottish clan that claims an origin in the early 9th century. The clan's most famous member is Rob Roy MacGregor of the late 17th and early 18th centuries. The Clan is also known to have been among the first families of Scotland to begin playing the bagpipes in the early 17th century. History Origins of the clan The Clan Gregor held lands in Glen Orchy, Glenlochy and Glenstrae. According to Iain Moncreiffe the MacGregors were descended from an ancient Celtic royal family, through the Abbots of Glendochart. This is alluded to in the clan's motto: "Royal is my race". Macgregor () is a residential suburb in the Belconnen district of Canberra, located within the Australian Capital Territory, Australia. It was gazetted on 9 September 1971. It lies next to the suburbs of Dunlop, Latham and Holt on the western side of Belconnen, with Florey Drive the boundary to the east, Ginninderra Drive on the north, and Southern Cross Drive on the south. MacGregor is a southern suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. At the , MacGregor had a population of 5,844 people. MacGregor, like its surrounding suburbs, incorporates a very diverse multicultural community. It was previously part of Sunnybank, until the suburb was named in 1967. Geography The suburb is in three main parts, divided by the six-lane Kessels Road, and separately, Mimosa Creek. Most residential buildings are single and two-storey beige brick houses with a tiled roof. There appears to be no specific naming convention for the roads. MacGregor is a community in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It held town status prior to January 1, 2015 when it amalgamated with the Rural Municipality of North Norfolk to form the Municipality of North Norfolk. MacGregor is located approximately west of Winnipeg and east of Brandon. It is a farming community, with the biggest industry in the area being agriculture. The community is surrounded by farms, and the Trans-Canada Highway is located just north of MacGregor. History The town is named after the Very Rev James MacGregor by the Canadian Pacific Railway who named a railway station after him, during his visit with the Marquis of Lome, around which the town grew. MacGregor Point Provincial Park is a park located on Lake Huron, off of Bruce Road 33 near Port Elgin, Ontario, Canada. The varied habitat found within the park includes a seven-kilometre stretch of coast, coastal wetlands, forests, and dunes. Although the beaches in the park can be used for swimming, better beaches can be found at Port Elgin or nearby Inverhuron Provincial Park. Recreational activities include hiking, cycling, canoeing, and kayaking. Some carnivorous plants grow in the park. Rare dwarf lake iris and the elusive spotted turtle appear in the spring. Migrating birds, including the black-crowned night heron and the great egret, have been spotted as well. The MacGregor Yacht Corporation was a manufacturer of sailing yachts, located in Costa Mesa, California. History MacGregor Yacht Co. was founded by Roger MacGregor as part of a Stanford University MBA class project in the early 1960s. The company was in business until early 2013, having been succeeded by Tattoo Yachts. MacGregor produced primarily small, trailerable sailing yachts, from a catamaran to pocket cruisers, up to water ballasted trailerable sizes. MacGregor has also built a catamaran, and a yacht. The final model produced was the MacGregor 26M, a trailerable sailboat, which is now under production as the Tattoo 26. The 26M had the ability to mount up to a outboard motor.
