MacDraw
MacDraw is a discontinued vector graphics drawing application released along with the first Apple Macintosh systems in 1984. MacDraw was one of the first WYSIWYG drawing programs that could be used in collaboration with MacWrite. It was eventually adapted by Claris and, in the early 1990s, MacDraw Pro was released with color support. MacDraw was the vector cousin of MacPaint. In the preface of the third edition of ''Introduction to Algorithms'', the authors make an emphatic plea for the creation of an OS X-compatible version of MacDraw Pro. Claris
Claris International Inc., formerly FileMaker Inc., is a computer software development company formed as a subsidiary company of Apple Computer (now Apple Inc.) in 1987. It was given the source code and copyrights to several programs that were owned by Apple, notably MacWrite and MacPaint, in order to separate Apple's application software activities from its hardware and operating systems activities. In 1998, the company divested itself of all but its flagship product, and reformed as FileMaker Inc. In 2019, FileMaker Inc. announced at DevCon that it was restoring the Claris brand name. EazyDraw
EazyDraw is a Mac-only vector graphics program from Dekorra Optics. It has all of the usual vector drawing tools, but also includes features not usually combined (e.g., dimension tools, numerical parametric geometry, mathematical function graphing, image editing, etc.). Originally released in 2003 at the San Francisco MacWorld conference, versions have appeared regularly since. Version 1.7.0 was released in December 2004. Version 9.1.0, released in November 2018, was a major upgrade, and is fully compatible with macOS Mojave. Several versions are available. In addition to the main macOS version, EazyDraw Retro is a 32-bit version that will run under macOS 10.4.11 through macOS 10.14, and can import many old formats, including PICT, AppleWorks, ClarisWorks, MacDraw, MacDraw II, and MacDraw Pro. MacWrite
MacWrite is a WYSIWYG word processor application released along with the first Apple Macintosh systems in 1984. Together with MacPaint, it was one of the two original "killer applications" that propelled the adoption and popularity of the GUI in general, and the Mac in particular. MacWrite was spun off to Claris, which released a major update in 1989 as MacWrite II. A further series of improvements produced 1993's MacWrite Pro, but further improvements were few and far between. MacPaint
MacPaint is a raster graphics editor developed by Apple Computer and released with the original Macintosh personal computer on January 24, 1984. It was sold separately for US$195 with its word processing counterpart, MacWrite. MacPaint was notable because it could generate graphics that could be used by other applications. Using the mouse, and the clipboard and QuickDraw picture language, pictures could be cut from MacPaint and pasted into MacWrite documents.. The original MacPaint was developed by Bill Atkinson, a member of Apple's original Macintosh development team. Early development versions of MacPaint were called MacSketch, still retaining part of the name of its roots, LisaSketch.
