MacArthur Thruway
MacArthur Thruway (; shortened to ), was the first controlled-access highway in Taiwan, linking Taipei to Keelung from 1964 to 1977. It was a predecessor to the Taiwan's National Highway System. Route Starting in Taipei at what is now Taipei Gymnasium, the MacArthur Thruway headed east along Nanjing East Road, intersected with Keelung Road at Zhengqi Bridge, and crossed the Keelung River. From there, it went through Neihu, Xizhi, and Qidu, ending in Keelung at the intersection of Xiao 2nd Road (孝二路) and Zhong 4th Road (忠四路). The length was . MacArthur Highway
The MacArthur Highway, officially the Manila North Road (MNR or MaNor), is a , two-to-six lane, national primary highway and tertiary highway in Luzon, Philippines, connecting Caloocan in Metro Manila to Aparri in Cagayan. United Daily News
''United Daily News'' (UDN; ) is a newspaper published in Taiwan. It is considered to support the pan-Blue Coalition in its editorials. History UDN was founded in 1951 by Wang Tiwu as a merger of three newspapers, ''Popular Daily'' (全民日報), ''National'' (民族報), and the ''Economic Times'' (經濟時報). The three newspapers formally merged in 1953. In terms of political orientation, the ''United Daily News'' is regarded as taking an editorial line that supports the pan-Blue Coalition. Qidu District
Qidu District or Cidu District () is a district of the city of Keelung, Taiwan. It borders New Taipei to the west. History During the period of Japanese rule, included modern day Qidu and Nuannuan districts and was governed under of Taihoku Prefecture. New Taipei City is a Special municipality (Taiwan), special municipality located in northern Taiwan. National Freeway 1 (), also known as Sun Yat-sen Freeway (), is a freeway in Taiwan, the first freeway built in Taiwan. Douglas MacArthur
Douglas MacArthur (26 January 18805 April 1964) was an American military leader who served as General of the Army for the United States, as well as a field marshal to the Philippine Army. He had served with distinction in World War I, was Chief of Staff of the United States Army during the 1930s, and he played a prominent role in the Pacific theater during World War II. The New Taiwan dollar (code: TWD; symbol: NT$, also abbreviated as NT) is the official currency of Taiwan.
