Maamaankam
''Maamaankam'' is a 1979 Indian Malayalam-language historical drama film directed and produced by Navodaya Appachan, made under Navodaya Studio. It is based on the medieval Mamankam festival held every 12 years at the banks of river Bharathappuzha in Tirunavaya, Southern India. Written by N. Govindankutty, the film stars Prem Nazir, Jayan, Jose Prakash and Alummoodan in the lead roles. The film has musical score by K. Raghavan. Plot It is Chanthunni's(Prem Nazir) greatest wish to go to the Mamankam and fight for the sake of his King Valluvakonathiri against the Samoothiri. However his uncle and guru wishes him to wait until the next Mamankam. And his childhood love Manka is the daughter of the Chief Minister of Samuthiri. Krishnan Nair (25 July 1939 – 16 November 1980), better known by his stage name Jayan, was an Indian actor, naval officer, stunt performer and cultural icon of the 1970s and 1980s. Navodaya Appachan
Maliampurackal Chacko Punnoose, known as Navodaya Appachan (6 February 1924 – 23 April 2012) was an Indian film producer, director and entrepreneur. He is best known for his work in Malayalam cinema, especially as the founder of Navodaya Studio. Appachan was born to the Maliampurackal family at Pulinkunnoo and was an alumnus of St. Xavier's College, Palayamkottai. Movies he produced include ''Manjil Virinja Pookkal'' and ''My Dear Kuttichathan''. The latter was the first 3D movie made in India and released as ''Chota Chetan'' in Hindi. He is the founder of Navodaya Studio. He created ''Bible Ki Kahaniyan'' on Doordarshan. He first became involved in the film industry with his brother Kunchacko, at Udaya Studio. Ceylon Manohar ( ta, சிலோன் மனோகர்) ( – 22 January 2018), popular name of A. E. Manoharan (Anthony Pillai Emmanuel Manoharan) also known as Surangani Manohar ( ta, சுராங்கனி மனோகர் ), was a pop singer and actor. Māmānkam or Māmāngam was a ''duodecennial'' medieval fair held on the bank, and on the dry river-bed, of Pērār (River Nil̥a, River Ponnani, or Bhārathappuzha) at Tirunāvāya, southern India. Marcus Bartley (22 April 1917 14 March 1993) was an Anglo-Indian cinematographer known for his works predominantly in Telugu cinema along with a few Hindi, Malayalam, and Tamil films. Alummoodan (15 March 1933 3 May 1992) was an Indian actor who worked in Malayalam films. He had acted in more than 100 films and mainly did comedy roles. Background Alummoodan was born to Alummoottil Joseph and Rosamma in Changanacherry. He was married to Rosamma Dominic. They have six children, 2 sons and 4 daughters. His son Boban Alummoodan is also an actor in Malayalam movies.
