Ma Zhenjun
Ma Zhenjun (; born 1962) is a lieutenant general (''zhong jiang'') of the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) of China. He has been Chief of Staff of the PLAAF since August 2013, and previously served as commander of the Beijing Military Region Air Force. Biography Ma was born in 1962 in Pingyu, Henan Province. He enlisted in the PLAAF and served in the Guangzhou Military Region Air Force for many years. Ma earned fast promotion after proving himself a top-grade fighter pilot, an outstanding fighter division commander, and a keen proponent of training. Instead of routine technical training, Ma emphasized tactical combat training. When he commanded the 2nd Fighter Division, it was rated as having displayed the most proficiency in training for three successive years. He also won three PLA science and technology awards. The People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF; ), also known as the Chinese Air Force (中国空军) or the People's Air Force (人民空军), is an aerial service branch of the People's Liberation Army, the regular armed forces of the People's Republic of China. The PLAAF was officially established on 11 November 1949 and it is composed of 5 branches which are aviation, anti-aircraft artillery, surface-to-air missiles (SAM), radar, and Airborne Corps. Zhong Jiang
(; ja, 将, Shō; ) is the rank held by general officers in some East Asian militaries. The ranks are used in both the People's Republic of China and the Republic of China on Taiwan. The People's Liberation Army and the People's Armed Police use three levels at present while the Republic of China Armed Forces use four. In both North and South Korea the rank is also used. Jinan Military Region
The Jinan Military Region was a PLA Military Region located in the east of the People's Republic of China, covering the Shandong and Henan Provinces, which also formed military districts. It appears that Yang Dezhi was one of the first commander of the Jinan MR, from 1958. It was considered a strategic reserve. It includes some of the area previously within the Wuhan Military Region, disbanded in 1985–88. The 5th Air Corps was established in Weifeng, Shandong Province, in 1952, possibly from the disbanding 11th Corps, but was moved to Hangzhou in the Nanjing Military Region by 1954. After 1975 the 46th Army was transferred from Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province to Linyi, Shandong. It was disestablished in 1985. 2nd Fighter Division (People's Republic Of China)
The 2nd Fighter Division of the People's Liberation Army Air Force is an air formation of the People's Republic of China. It was part of the Guangzhou Military Region Air Force. The plan was to establish the formation at Shanghai Longhua Airport from personnel of the East China Military Region and the 208th Division of the North China Military Region, and the 624th Infantry Regiment Headquarters. It was formed in November 1950 at Shanghai Longhua with the 4th and 6th Regiments. It was initially mostly responsible for air defense duty of Shanghai, and it participated in the Korean War. Guangzhou Military Region
The Guangzhou Military Region was from 1955 to 2016 one of the People's Liberation Army PLA Military Regions, located in the south of the People's Republic of China. In May 1949, the Central China (Hua Zhong) Military Region (MR) was formed. In March 1955, it was divided into two, the Guangzhou MR and the Wuhan Military Region. When the Wuhan MR was disbanded in August 1985, its troops stationed around the Hubei province were assigned to the Guangzhou MR. The region was disestablished in 2016 and reorganised as the Southern Theater Command. Just before being disbanded, the Guangzhou MR controlled the Guangdong Province, Guangxi Autonomous Region, Hunan Province, Hubei Province, and the Hainan Province Military Districts.
