Mohammad Shahjahan is a two star admiral of Bangladesh who is currently posted at National Defence College as Senior Directing Staff (SDS). Prior to that, he was the Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority. Earlier he served as the chairman of the Mongla Port Authority. In previous he has also served as the Deputy Director General of Bangladesh Coast Guard. Career Shahjahan joined the Bangladesh Navy on July 24, 1984, and received his commission on January 1 in 1987. He is the ex-officio chairman of the executive committee of Chattogram Bandar Mohila College. On 11 March 2019, Shajahan was appointed the deputy director general of Bangladesh Coast Guard. On 9 April 2020, Shahjahan was promoted to rear admiral from commodore after he was appointed chairman of Mongla Port Authority on 8 April. Rear admiral is a senior naval flag officer rank, equivalent to a major general and air vice marshal and above that of a commodore and captain, but below that of a vice admiral. It is regarded as a two star "admiral" rank. It is often regarded as a two-star rank with a NATO code of OF-7. Bangladesh Coast Guard
The Bangladesh Coast Guard ( bn, বাংলাদেশ কোস্ট গার্ড; BCG) is the maritime law enforcement force of Bangladesh. It is a paramilitary force which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Its officers and sailors are transferred from Bangladesh Navy, and most of the medical officers are transferred from Bangladesh Army. Mohammad Musa is a two star military admiral of Bangladesh Navy. He is the incumbent Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University. Prior to joining here, he served as the Chairman of Mongla Port Authority. Prior to this appointment, he was Commander of Khulna Naval Area. Mohammad Javed Patwary was a Bangladeshi police officer and a former Inspector General of Police of Bangladesh Police . Earlier, he served as Additional Inspector General of Police Special Branch (SB). After his retirement in 2020, he was appointed as the ambassador to Saudi Arabia by the Government of Bangladesh. 2022 Sitakunda Fire
On the night of , a fire and subsequent explosions at a container depot in Sitakunda Upazila, Chittagong District, Bangladesh killed at least 47 people and injured around 450 others. The incident occurred at BM Container Depot in the Kadamrasul area of Sitakunda Upazila. After a fire started in the loading area at around (), a massive explosion occurred at around 23:45BST (17:45UTC), triggering more explosions that spread across the depot caused by ignition of chemicals stored in the containers. The force of the explosions affected buildings several kilometres away, and one witness stated that the explosions caused a rain of fireballs. The head of Bangladesh's fire service stated that there was hydrogen peroxide in the depot which prevented the fire from being controlled.
