M Series (computer)
M-20, M-220 and M222 were a range of general-purpose computers designed and manufactured in the USSR. These computers were developed by the Scientific Research Institute of Electronic Machines ( NIIEM) and built at Moscow Plant of Calculating and Analyzing Machines (SAM) and the Kazan Plant of Computing Machines (under the Ministry of Radio Industry of the USSR). In computing, multitasking is the concurrent execution of multiple tasks (also known as processes) over a certain period of time. New tasks can interrupt already started ones before they finish, instead of waiting for them to end. It followed on from ALGOL 58 which had introduced code blocks and the begin and end pairs for delimiting them, representing a key advance in the rise of structured programming.
