FC Partizan Minsk ( be, ФК Партызан Мінск) was a Belarusian football club based in Minsk. History The club was founded as MTZ-RIPO Minsk in 2002 as a merger of two Minsk teams from the Second League ( Traktor Minsk, a club with a 55-year history, and Trudovye Rezervy-RIPO Minsk, a football academy-based team which only spent one season in the Second League). The merge allowed the new team to have its own football school to recruit young players from as well as financial supply from the Minsk Tractor Works, the main sponsor of Traktor Minsk. MTZ-RIPO Minsk started playing in the Second League in 2002. In their first season the team finished first, and then did the same in the First League in 2003. Since 2004, they played in Belarusian Premier League. 2004–05 Belarusian Cup
2004–05 Belarusian Cup was the 14th edition of the football knock-out competition in Belarus. First round All 13 teams from the Second League, 15 teams from the First League (out of 16, excluding Dinamo Minsk youth reserve team Dinamo-Juni Minsk) and 2 amateur clubs started in this round. The games were played on 14 July 2004. Round of 32 15 winners of previous round were joined by 16 clubs from Premier League. 2007–08 Belarusian Cup was the 17th edition of the football knock-out competition in Belarus. First round 12 teams from the First League (out of 14, excluding Belshina Bobruisk and Lokomotiv Minsk who relegated from the Premier League after 2006 season), 13 teams from the Second League (out of 16, excluding three teams which were reverve squads for Premier and First League teams) and 7 amateur clubs started in this round. The games were played on 28 and 30 July 2007. Round of 32 16 winners of previous round were joined by 14 clubs from Premier League and two First League clubs which relegated from the Premier League after 2006 season. 2008 Belarusian Premier League
The 2008 Belarusian Premier League was the 18th season of top-tier football in Belarus. It started on April 6 and ended on November 16, 2008. BATE Borisov were the defending champions. Team changes from 2007 season Due to league expansion from 14 to 16 teams the only relegated team Minsk, who finished last in 2007, was replaced by three best teams of 2007 First League: Savit Mogilev, Granit Mikashevichi and Lokomotiv Minsk. Overview BATE Borisov won their 5th champions title and qualified for the next season's Champions League. 2005 Belarusian Premier League
The 2005 Belarusian Premier League was the 15th season of top-tier football in Belarus. It started on April 16 and ended on November 5, 2005. Dinamo Minsk were the defending champions. Team changes from 2004 season Two lowest placed teams in 2004 ( Lokomotiv Vitebsk and Belshina Bobruisk) relegated to First League. Lokomotiv Minsk won the 2004 First League and were promoted. Vedrich-97 Rechytsa finished 2nd in First League and were supposed to be promoted as well. However, due to weak club infrastructure they couldn't obtain licence to compete in Premiere League and decided to stay in First League. Torpedo-SKA Minsk, who finished 6th in 2004, lost financial support from their sponsor in early 2005 and, after losing almost all their main squad and not having funds to pay entrance fee for next season's Premiere League, had to relegate to Second League. Belarusian Premier League
The Belarusian Premier League or the Vyšejšaja Liha or the Vysheyshaya Liga ( be, Вышэйшая ліга, russian: Высшая лига, "Top League") is the top division of professional football in Belarus, and is organized by the Belarusian Football Federation. The number of teams in the competition has varied over the years from as high as 17 (1992–93 season) to as low as 11 (2012). As of 2016, the league included 16 teams. Each team plays every other team twice during the course of the season. At the end of the season, the two teams with the fewest points are automatically relegated to the Belarusian First League, while the third worst team plays a promotion-relegation playoff against the third best team from the second tier. FC Traktor Minsk (russian: ФК Трактор Минск) is a football team from Belarus. History It was established in 1947 during building of Minsk Tractor Works as a sport section for construction workers and later for local factory personal. The club won Belarusian SSR League in 1948 and 1949. From 1949 till 1957 they were known as ''Torpedo-MTZ Minsk'' and from 1958 till early 1960s as ''MTZ Minsk''. FC Vitebsk ( be, ФК Віцебск, FK Viciebsk, russian: ФК Витебск) is a Belarusian football club based in Vitebsk. The club plays in the Belarusian Premier League, the top division in Belarusian football. Their home stadium is Vitebsky Central Sport Complex. History The club was founded in 1960 as Krasnoye Znamya Vitebsk (''Red Flag Vitebsk''). They began playing in Soviet Class B (second-tier league) the same year. The Belarusian First League is the second tier of professional football in Belarus. It was created in 1992, following the Belarusian independence. History and format The typical format of the league involves 16 clubs playing a double round-robin tournament over 30 matchdays (with the exception of shortened 1992 and 1995 seasons, which were a single round-robin tournaments). Belarusian Second League is the third tier of professional football in Belarus. It was established in 1992. History and format A strict number of teams and competition format are not defined for the league. Before the start of each season the format of the league is adjusted depending on how many teams are willing to participate and able to fulfill licensing criteria.
