MTV Showtown
''MTV Showtown'' was the flagship show of MTV Canada and the successor to the previous flagship show, '' MTV Live'' which premiered on February 5, 2013. The show aired Monday through Thursday at 11pm ET and was created when MTV vacated ''Live''s studio at Masonic Temple. The show consisted of ''MTV Live''s main hosts, with the exception of Daryn Jones, who was replaced by Graham Chittenden. No new episodes aired after the last week of June 2013, causing speculation that the show had been cancelled by MTV Canada. Repeated requests for information and interviews have not been responded to by MTV Canada producers, show hosts and public relations. Nicole Holness
Nicole Holness (born April 13, 1984) is a TV host and R&B singer. Between 2002 and 2005, she was part of the Canadian girl group X-Quisite alongside Melanie Fiona and Nirvana Savoury. In 2006, Holness was chosen as one of the original seven co-hosts of MTV Canada and their flagship series '' MTV Live''. Holness co-hosted ''MTV Live'' alongside host Paul Lemieux, Sheena Snively, and Dave Merheje. She has interviewed guests including Akon, Ciara, Ken Tamplin and Lily Allen. Beginnings Holness hails from a Guyanese, Indigenous Canadian, Scottish and West Indian background. A Toronto native, Holness is fluent in French and Tagalog and attended Cedarbrae Collegiate Institute. Graham Chittenden is a Canadian standup comedian and television writer from Brantford, Ontario, most noted for his work as part of the writing team for the television series '' Still Standing''. MTV Live (Canadian TV Series)
''MTV Live'' was a Canadian half-hour music television program. It was the flagship show of MTV Canada, airing from March 21, 2006 to October 31, 2012. The program began as an interactive talkshow where viewers were encouraged to jump into the conversation. It is the successor to the talktv program ''The Chatroom''. The show won the 2008 Gemini Award for "Best Talk Series". After beginning as a show that featured performances, interviews, stories on musicians, and focused on music, the show has become dedicated to focusing on its hosts, with little musical content. The show has become more of variety style comedy show, including the introduction of new "internet style" skits. The show now sometimes features live musical performances by a variety of artists of different genres and success levels, though is decidedly committed to being a 26-minute show on what the hosts do and think. The multiple-camera setup, multiple-camera mode of production, multi-camera or simply multicam is a method of filmmaking and video production. Several cameras—either film or professional video cameras—are employed on the set and simultaneously record or broadcast a scene. It is often contrasted with a single-camera setup, which uses one camera. Masonic Temple (Toronto)
The Masonic Temple is a hall in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located on the north-west corner of Davenport Road and Yonge Street. History Construction began November 2, 1916, when the contract was signed and approved by the Board of The Masonic Temple Company for the tearing down of an existing church and excavation. The Masonic ceremony of laying the cornerstone occurring November 17, 1917, with the first Lodge meeting taking place on New Year's Day, 1918. At its peak, the Masonic Temple was home to 38 different Masonic bodies: 27 Craft Lodges, six Chapters (York Rite), two Preceptories (Knights Templar), two Scottish Rite Bodies and Adoniram Council. Daryn Jones (born January 3, 1978 in Victoria, British Columbia) is a Canadian comedian and television personality. Career He began his career in stand-up comedy clubs at the age of 17, receiving formal training in a private training school. He and fellow comedian Morgan "Mista Mo" Smith co-wrote and co-starred on the sketch comedy television show '' Buzz'' on the Toronto Community Access Channel in the mid-1990s.
