MTV Europe Music Awards
The MTV Europe Music Awards (originally named MTV European Music Awards, commonly abbreviated as MTV EMA) are awards presented by Paramount International Networks to honour artists and music in pop culture. It was originally conceived as an alternative to the MTV Video Music Awards, which are hosted annually in the United States. The Europe Music Awards are held every year in a different country; it has been hosted mostly in the United Kingdom. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by prominent artists, and the presentation of those awards that have a more popular interest. Mira Scherdin Craig (born 31 July 1982) is a Norwegian R&B artist. Early life Craig's father is Ronaldo Craig an African American from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was born in 1982 in Oslo, and at the age of twelve, Craig performed the Whitney Houston hit "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)" on the Norwegian youth TV show ''Midt i smørøyet''. By the age of 15 she had started writing her own songs, and by 17 she was singing back-up vocals for Noora Noor. Career In 2000, she made headlines at " Quartfestivalen", a Norwegian music festival, when Wyclef Jean pulled her up on stage. The MTV Europe Music Awards 2009 took place in Berlin, Germany at the O2 World and Brandenburg Gate on 5 November 2009. The awards ceremony was presented by Katy Perry for a 2nd consecutive year. It was the fourth time that the MTV Europe Music Awards were hosted in Germany and the second time that they were hosted in Berlin, since the inaugural edition of the MTV Europe Music Awards also took place there. Thus Berlin became the first city to host the event twice. Nominations for regional awards were announced on 1 September 2009, followed by those of the main awards on September 21, 2009. Kakkmaddafakka (KMF) is a Norwegian indie rock band formed and based in Bergen. They are known for their high energy live performances. The band is one of many artists who emerged from Bergen, which the Norwegian press has called the "New Bergen Wave", as it is reminiscent of the many successful bands that emerged from Bergen in the late 1990s and the early 2000s. History Formation and ''Down to Earth'' (2004-2007) The band was formed by brothers Axel and Pål Vindenes, together with school friends Jonas Nielsen and Stian Sævig in 2004. Ida Maria Børli Sivertsen ( ; born 13 July 1984), better known simply as Ida Maria, is a Norwegian musician and songwriter. Biography Early life Maria was born and raised in Nesna. She taught herself to play guitar and began performing at local concerts at age 14. Erik og Kriss, sometimes styled as Erik & Kriss is a Norwegian rap group created by Erik Mortvedt and Kristoffer Tømmerbakke. The duo became popular through the Internet with the song ''Bærumsgrammatikk'' in 2004 and later with ''Putt Diamanter Opp'' in 2006. Aleksander Denstad With (born 30 June 1987 in Trondheim) is a Norwegian who won season 4 of the TV show '' Idol'' in May 2006, becoming the youngest person ever to win the competition. Aleksander released his first album, titled 'Coming Home', on 23 October 2006. The album was a major success and peaked at #4 on the Top 40 Norwegian Albums Chart upon release. Lilyjets were a Norwegian girl group with the members being Lisbeth Marie T. Mjaugeto (1983), Kine Lee T. Aksnes (1984) and Tinki Tønseth Troye (1984). They started singing and writing music together at an early age. Their music is based on their vocal harmonies and the acoustic guitar. Karpe (known as Karpe Diem in the period 2000–2018) is a rap group from Oslo, Norway made up of audiovisual artists Magdi Omar Ytreeide Abdelmaguid (b. 1984) and Chirag Rashmikant Patel (b. 1984). Biography Magdi Omar Ytreeide Abdelmaguid of mixed Egyptian/Norwegian origin was born on 3 June 1984 in Oslo to an Egyptian father and a Norwegian mother from Stryn, Sogn og Fjordane. Chirag Rashmikant Patel of Indian origin was born on 20 July 1984 in Lørenskog. His Indian father immigrated from Uganda and Chirag grew up in Oslo. His mother originates from Gujarat, India.
