MS Mega Smeralda
MS ''Mega Smeralda'' is a cruiseferry owned by Medinvest and operated by Corsica Ferries - Sardinia Ferries. She was built in 1985 by Wärtsilä at the Helsinki New Shipyard in Helsinki, Finland, for Johnson Line as MS ''Svea'' for use in Silja Line traffic. Between 1992 and 1994, she sailed for Silja Line as MS ''Silja Karneval'' and, between 1994 and 2008, for Color Line as MS ''Color Festival''. History Silja Line service MS ''Svea'' and her sister MS ''Wellamo'' were modeled after Silja Line's highly successful Helsinki–Stockholm service ferries MS ''Finlandia'' and MS ''Silvia Regina''. Between the two classes, the aesthetic differences are the most notable; whilst the ''Finlandia'' and her sister followed a "form follows function" design philosophy resulting in a very boxy design for the ships, the new sisters for the Turku–Stockholm routing followed a more rounded and smoother, and overall much less hostile, design. Bastia (, , , ; co, Bastìa ) is a commune in the department of Haute-Corse, Corsica, France. It is located in the northeast of the island of Corsica at the base of Cap Corse. GTS ''Finnjet'' was a cruiseferry, built in 1977 by Wärtsilä Helsinki Shipyard, Finland for Finnlines traffic between Finland and Germany. At the time of her delivery, ''Finnjet'' was the fastest, longest and largest car ferry in the world, and the only one powered by gas turbines. At the point of her scrapping in 2008, she remained the fastest conventional ferry in the world, with a recorded top speed of . ''Finnjet'' had remained out of service since 2005, laid up in Baton Rouge, Freeport and Genoa. Although she was purchased by Club Cruise in November 2007 and renamed MS ''Da Vinci'' in January 2008 for rebuilding into a cruise ship, the ship was sold for scrap in May 2008. Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven GmbH is a dockyard in Bremerhaven. It was founded in 1863 by the shipping company Norddeutscher Lloyd, first mainly used as a repair workshop for the company’s own merchant fleet. This new yard was established in exchange and addition to the former small Lloyd-workshop in Bremen which was already founded in 1857. In the 1970s, the shipyard became member of the Vulkan Group. As of 2016, the Lloyd facility is the last remaining major dockyard in Bremerhaven. It employs 500 workers and occupies 260,000 m². Ships with a draught as deep as 11.5 m can be accommodated. The dockyard is solely focused on ship repair, maintenance and reconstruction. MS ''Stena Saga'' is a cruiseferry owned by the Swedish shipping company Stena Line and was operating mainly on their route connecting Oslo, Norway to Frederikshavn, Denmark until March 2020, after that the route was closed down. She was built as MS ''Silvia Regina'' in 1981 by Wärtsilä in Turku, Finland, for Rederi AB Svea for use in Silja Line traffic. MS ''Moby Dada'' is a cruiseferry operated by Moby Lines, under charter from DFDS Seaways. She was built in 1981 as ''Finlandia'' for Effoa at Wärtsilä's Perno shipyard in Turku, Finland, and placed in service on Silja Line's Helsinki— Stockholm service. In 1990 she was sold to DFDS Seaways and renamed ''Queen of Scandinavia''.
