Bristol () is a city, ceremonial county and unitary authority in England. HAWAII MR1
The HAWAII MR1 is a seafloor imaging system developed by the Hawaii Mapping Research Group (HMRG) in 1991. HAWAII MR1 is short for HIGP (Hawaii Institute of Geophysics and Planetology) Acoustic Wide Angle Imaging Instrument, Mapping Researcher 1. This system is the first to use all-digital signal processing. See section titled HAWAII MR1/MR2. It has been used in the discovery of several objects and locations of note, examples being the USS ''Yorktown'' and the HMRG Deep. Description The MR1 system is relatively small and stable, and is towed at a depth of 80 to 100 meters. Because it is not hull-mounted, this data collection system has the ability to withstand rough conditions. The HAWAII MR1 also has the capability to measure and collect bathymetric and backscatter data simultaneously, and record raw acoustic data independently of human supervision. Major histocompatibility complex class I-related gene protein (MR1) is a non-classical MHC class I protein, that binds vitamine metabolites (intermediates of riboflavin synthesis) produced in certain types of bacteria. MR1 interacts with mucosal associated invariant T cells (MAIT). Gene location MR1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ''MR1'' gene and located on chromosome 1. Non-classical MHC class I genes are very often located on the same chromosome (mice chromosome 6, human chromosome 17) and interspaced within the same loci as the classical MHC genes. MR1 is located on another chromosome, the detailed gene analysis revealed that MR1 is a paralog originated by duplication of MHC locus on chromosome 6 (mice). Mercury-Redstone 1
Mercury-Redstone 1 (MR-1) was the first Mercury-Redstone uncrewed flight test in Project Mercury and the first attempt to launch a Mercury spacecraft with the Mercury-Redstone Launch Vehicle. Intended to be an uncrewed sub-orbital spaceflight, it was launched on November 21, 1960 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida. The launch failed in abnormal fashion: immediately after the Mercury-Redstone rocket started to move, it shut itself down and settled back on the pad, after which the capsule jettisoned its escape rocket and deployed its recovery parachutes. The failure has been referred to as the "four-inch flight", for the approximate distance traveled by the launch vehicle. PNKD is the abbreviation for a human neurological movement disorder paroxysmal nonkinesiogenic dyskinesia. Like many other human genetics disorders, PNKD also refers to the disease, the disease gene and the encoded protein. (PNKD) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ''PNKD'' gene. Alternative splicing results in the transcription of three isoforms. The mouse ortholog is called brain protein 17 (Brp17). Structure This gene is located on chromosome 2 at the band 2q35 and contains 12 exons. ''Shewanella oneidensis'' is a bacterium notable for its ability to reduce metal ions and live in environments with or without oxygen. This proteobacterium was first isolated from Lake Oneida, NY in 1988, hence its name. ''S. oneidensis'' is a facultative bacterium, capable of surviving and proliferating in both aerobic and anaerobic conditions. The special interest in ''S. oneidensis'' MR-1 revolves around its behavior in an anaerobic environment contaminated by heavy metals such as iron, lead and uranium. Experiments suggest it may reduce ionic mercury to elemental mercury and ionic silver to elemental silver. Cellular respiration for these bacteria is not restricted to heavy metals though; the bacteria can also target sulfates, nitrates and chromates when grown anaerobically.
